Gee, you all are so comforting! LOL We did get Hobbes banded today.

Our First Goats with Pictures - Goats

I did the banding and gave him a tetnus. First time for me for both. He was a little trooper and it did not seem to bother him at all afterward. I sure was relieved it went so well.

If she is knocked up now what? Is she going to be ok? When will I know. What can I do to help her prenatally speaking?

The only way to know FOR SURE is a pregnancy test:

Home | BioTracking.com

You can either draw blood on her (or have your vet draw blood on her) and send it in, or check their locations to see if there is a lab near you that does pregnancy tests.

We don't breed young due to the risk of a large, single buck having to be birthed by a small, half-grown doe. If she is pregnant, and you catch her in time, you could use lutalyse to abort the pregnancy.

Was she kept with the boys at her breeder's place, or is this the first time she was housed with boys?

First time she was housed with boys. The breeder said she would be okay as she was too young. Her birth date was 5/2/12 so not quite 4 months old. She is with the Wether now. But he is banded. Can he still breed her with the band on?

Okay, that makes it better. If she caught, she caught recently. Wait 14 days, then give her a shot of Lutalyse (you have to get it from your vet, and dosage is 2.5ml) and that should take care of anything that *might* have happened.

And her breeder has a big hole of ignorance there. This year has been a RASH of too-early breedings for a lot of folks, mainly due to accident. I have a doeling here that managed to get bred between 3-4 months old, did NOT lose the pregnancy even through a major, invasive surgery that belies the "too young" idea.

Just being AROUND bucks can bring a doeling into heat.

My vet said that a banded boy isn't "safe" for 30 days...just saying.
