Paisley. (3/4 nubian 1/4 toggenburg) http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/...93660172_n.jpgSire. The alpine buck we just lost to pneumonia. And Barley, our alpine/saanen doe is in the background, hoping my friend amanda will share some treats with her. http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/...03598511_n.jpg Birdie (1/2 nubian 1/2 toggenburg) http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/...71291849_n.jpg Onyx (alpine doe) http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/...88829561_n.jpg Fern (Nubian doe) And I can't get these two other pictures to upload due to a resizing issue. But I have more pics of our new buck, and our 6 mo alpine saanen whether. |
Lovely goats. I know you are going to love working with them!
Hopefully, a goat pen/paddock is in the works so that they don't have to be chained or staked out. It is VERY dangerous unless you are watching them full time. Welcome to the goat world. Welcome to the board. Huggs, Alice |
I could be wrong Alice but I believe she said in another post they did that for a short time and now they have a pen built.. but could of been someone else.
Very pretty goaties. |
I had a vague memory of that..... too much going on!!
Just wanted newbies who might see the pic to know this isn't optimal goat restraint. :) |
They are fenced in now. 10 whole acres to themselves. We learned the lessons of tethering the hard way. We would bring them out of the barn/shed every morning and haul them all back in. 30 dollars worth of broken chains later, we fenced in half an acre (separate from the shed) with 4 strands of electric and did the same thing. Now we have about 10 acres fenced in up to the back of the barn/shed, and they frolic however they choose. And the good news is our goats are very non-naughty, and are very well contained with a simple 3 strand electric fence. Although I definitely wouldn't recommend 3 stands to all goat owners. I just know our own goats and know that they respect the fence, we teach them to respect the fence and they also have no urge to leave with that much space/forage. Although my mother had a couple miniatures (she just got rid of) that were too quick for the electric pulse. They would jump back and forth through the strands and take down acres of the fencing at a time.

correction, they share the ten acres with two steers and a horse, but the horse minds its own business.
|
I have a horse who is a goat stomper. They get separate pasture time. You're lucky they all get along.
Pretty goats BTW. |

Thanks. They are my mutt/meat/dairy herd. The only two goats I paid for were barley and onyx and that was 175 for the two. We got our 6 month old whether, who isn't pictured here, in exchange for 3 ducks. And our newest buck we got in exchange for 2 ducks and 2 guineas. |
Very pretty goats! Your going to have lots of fun with them & thanks for sharing. Sire was a very handsome buck.
|
Onyx looks a lot like my Sadie. I love alpines. They are so pretty and feminine!
|
Nice looking goats!
|
Nice looking goats. You can also post pictures from your facebook account. I stopped using other photo sites. If I want, I can even post a picture on facebook to be viewed only by me, then post it from there to a forum.

Question about one of my goats. Does Paisley look small? the 3/4 nubian 1/4 toggenburg doe? She is supposedly a year old, so shouldn't she be bigger? I haven't looked at her teeth, but I have a strong feeling that she might be closer to 6 months. When we got her and her mother, Birdie, We were told that she was never weaned, that they just let her do it on her own, but Birdie's udder was still quite large and has only recently started going back down in size. And the first week we had them (mid-june), they were separated due to space issues and Paisley just cried and cried. After that separation, they still stick together, but not like it was. Even though we never saw it, do you think Paisley was still nursing?
|
Probably. I have an eight month old doeling that is still nursing. I think this is the longest I've ever had one nurse, but I haven't separated them during the day, and evidently her dam still doesn't mind.
Hard to tell how big she is from a picture, but she looks good to me. |
Paisley looks to be a good size for a 8 month old doe to me.
|
I love Birdie, that Togg Nubian cross is cute. Shaggy nubian :)

~grinz~ I just can't let DH see this thread. He'd be hunting you down in a jiffy, trying to coax Paisley and Fern into the truck. :)
|
Fern actually has deformed hooves that grow straight forward and will curl up if you aren't watching/trimming her feet all the time. I am hoping this isn't something genetic. And I think Paisley would have an absolute heart attack if you took her away from her mother. lol. They are characters. Can't deny it.
