An overfull and distended bladder from a blockage (no matter the cause) can send a person into shock. Sure it will do the same to a goat. Maybe he just lay down in something nasty that stuck to the hair in that spot? Maybe even blood from that scur breaking off.

I wonder if he somehow got some sap on it. Very strange. Sending prayers that he gets better for you! And I'm sure he will forgive you in no time..

Poor boy! He's so handsome, and I feel bad for him!

Sending all the healing thoughts I can his way. I am sure he will calm down...oddly, one of the easier ways to tame an animal is to have them be sick, and have to recieve constant medical care. I don't know why that is, as they are getting things they don't like shoved down their throat, stabbed with needles, and all of the general unpleasantness that comes with medical treatment, but for some reason, they come out of it far less timid of people.

Well Austin seems to be on the mend......

He really ate for the first time yesterday afternoon..... Not much, but, about a flake of hay & a lil over a pound of alfalfa pellets.

He still hates me though.

Gave him his last AC drench this morning...... My lamancha doe, Star, is in season now & Austin is peeing well enough to fully drench his beard, so I think his water works are just fine.

He needs to add some weight, but I'm a bit leary of starting him on grain just yet, so I think we'll stick with the alfalfa pellets & hay for now & see how it goes.

I've looked all over for a source of the tarry junk, can't find anything, but I have his hair there completely cut off, so hopefully there won't be a repeat episode.

I want Ginger & Bleuberry bred in September, so I'm thing to try the Replamin on him this weekend to see if I can get him in better shape before I use him.

Crystal, you might also consider getting some probiotic into him. I am sure that the urine back-up didn't do his gut flora any favors. That might help get his digestive track working efficiently and get him gaining some weight.

He'll come around from hating you into loving you. No goat on the planet can fail to love you given the time.

He's so danged gorgeous. I'm sorry he scared you like that. I'm glad he's getting back on track for you though. I can't wait to see his babies. Congrats!
