When I was researching on bottle feeding I remember reading somewhere that the cocci medication doesn't work so good with milk. And not to put it in the bottle and don't even administer the cocci meds before or after feeding. So I would give the bottle and give the cocci meds a few hours later.
Glad she is doing better!!

Which cocci med is it that y'all are saying they don't like in their milk? I used Corid and mine all hogged it right up - even the dam-raised kids!

I'm using Decoxx-M, which is *designed* to be mixed in with the milk, but this kid wasn't on it till Monday. She's not used to the flavor, I guess.

I have no clue about either D or A -never owned a bottle of either... (I do know you can overdose on A, it is stored in the body.. overdose of A can lead to all sorts of problems..,unlike B vitamins whihc are water-soluble, so most extra is peed away)... don't hold me to this, but I think Vitamin D at least in some form, is used as some type of appetite control)..... B12 however is safe and it IS an appetite stimulant (straight B12 is Rx, but not overly pricey.. I just pick it up, over the counter at the vet's office).. I always have it and B1 (thiamine) on hand...

She's feeling better. Took her a bit to decide to take the bottle, but then drank about 16 oz.

Hehe I have to agree with Alice .. I too don't like bottling kids. Dont get me wrong Pebbles the doeling I got from yarrow took her bottle great! In fact she was a little monster about it LOL she would let me know real quick if I was too slow (she would try to eat my toes) But then when I got Pearl -forget it- she clamped her jaw tight and refused to open her mouth no matter what! Thankfully she ate everything else. But yeah its the worry, and its not like you can take them wherever you go so that you can pop em a bottle at feeding time.

I'm another here that would prefer not to bottle feed unless absolutely needed.

I'm so glad you figured it out Alice & she's feeling better. Nothing worse than when they feel a bit off or you think their Off.

I agree with you guys who hate to bottle feed unless absolutely necessary. Imo nature knows best. If it can go wrong it will and usually does for me and bottle feeding lol even though I'm very careful and go overboard to do everything right. Have never lost one because of it but boy is it a pain.

Glad the little goat is doing better Alice.

She took three shots at it this morning, but 20 oz went down. She's eating hay now.
Still haven't seen her eat ANY grain.
Pony likes this.

Aww Alice, I'm sorry. I am just starting to read a bit and saw you got Jubilee back tiny

My last batch of bottle kids sucked down meds in a bottle..... My group this year WILL NOT take ANY med in their bottle! They'll suck the first bit, snort, give me the evil eye then refuse the rest, and any other bottles I try that day they'll turn their nose up to... Frustrating, because I have to drench cocci meds at a different time than bottle time.....

Hope you get her sorted out soon.....
