I used to work at Midwest Stockyards in Mexico and that looks identical to the tags we used. (although the average Joe can also get them free from the state) I woud aso be willing to bet that these goats came from a sale barn. At the Mexico sale, if an animal comes in with tags already in it's ear, we would just mark it as "own tags" but if we had to tag it, we had to write the owners name and city, ticket # and tag #'s. We also had to write the tag numbers on their ticket. I'm not sure what info they enter on their computers once the animal is sold, but I'd be willing to bet that tag numbers would be entered. Good luck tracing it though! It won't be very high on their priority list if you know what I mean.

Until I joined this forum I had no idea goats had comunicable diseases. I thought I wanted goats until I started reading about everything goat people go through.

I've raised horses, hogs, chickens and rabbits and to me these are a lot less complicated than raising goats sound like.

More than likely it was somebody who has no experience with goats and thought they were doing good.

I'm glad you found a home for them Yarrow.
