Dosed her w/ the Valbazen. Temp is 102.8. Eating some now. Dosage on bottle stated 3 ml for 75 lbs.......4 ml for 100 lbs.........Did you really mean 1 ml per 10 lbs? If so, I haven't given her enough. Thanks for all of your help. As far as worming her here......we had a fecal done when we got her and her load was very low, so no wormer. All 3 does we got did have coccidiosis and were treated w/ Corid. They've only had their first round of that and are due for their second round to start on Wed. Thanks again! You guys are the best for nervous newbies!!

I think the label dose is for sheep. I use the dosages recommended on fiascofarm.com. You could search the forum here to see if anyone else uses a different dose. Most vets will tell you that nothing is labelled for goats so do what the label says, but that is not what works. The things I would take into consideration are: How long ago was the fecal done and was your weather really dry and then rainy recently because that will make what I call a "worm bloom" happen in a pasture. If the fecal was more than a couple months ago and you had dry weather then alot of rain recently (I was up in Black Mtn over July 4th and we had some big rains - not sure what you got where you are), I would give her the rest of the dose now. Did you guess her weight or use a goat weight tape? Also you might want to give her some molasses water to help with her energy, its a treat for them too.

If I remember correctly, you have had goats on your land about a year? If so, then there may not be much worm load on your pasture yet. But that is going to change as you bring in more animals from different farms as they will have different worm loads. If we keep having warm winters, there won't be the die off from freezing there would normally be and that will jack up the worm load too. Aren't you glad there is so much to worry about with goats?

Momma and baby are doing fine, the little buckling is wanting to play and romp around.

Had another surprise yesterday afternoon.

We knew Anna was due to kid in the next few days so we were trying to get the 'Goat Palace' set up with another kidding pen.
It has been a little warm here,so work wasn't moving as fast as I wanted, but was getting there.
After the second change of clothes I was back out working,Mrs oz had picked veggies and was back in the house when I noticed the girls were calling and calling.

It was late,so suspected everyone wanted their supper, started down that way and saw Anna(Queen) was not with the others but was towards the back of the paddock...then saw the white on the ground.

Ran down through all the brambles and sure enough, she had kidded and already cleaned up her two babies. One buckling and one doeling.
