Dental infections, abscesses, can actually lead to death if it enters the mastoid bone or brain. If you have a fever, you need an ER. It's not worth the risk of having mastoiditis or a brain infection/abscess just because you might be "jumping the gun" and going too soon. Go. You might need an IV antibiotic.
Do you have a headache? Dizziness? any neurological symptoms?

WOW...sorry about your tooth and the aftermath. Have you put something cold on it? Wrap some ice in a towel and see if it helps bring the infection down a little.

ODD THINGS TO TRY:

Tea bag..moistened..stick it between the bad tooth and cheek. Is supposed to pull out the nasties..it did for my hubby.

Garlic tabs: take a couple

Garlic bulbs: Clean a bulb and slice it in half..set on bad tooth. This will probably burn your check..just sayin'. I'd probably use a whole bulb and just score it. It's supposed to work as an antibiotic.

I hope something works soon for ya. Best of luck and heal quickly!!

Thanks for the advice and tips all.

I sent the dentist the picture and spoke to him, he is calling me in a prescription for Flagyl. I am hoping it is stronger and that it works better.
I also have a call into the urgent care clinic to see what they recommend but no one has called me back.
**Well I just spoke to them, they won't see me for anything "dental" told me to take the Flagyl and call a dentist tomorrow

I only had a slight fever last night, nothing since. The only thing making me dizzy was the Vicodine and I stopped taking that. Going back to my BFF Advil if I start feeling any bad pain. Right now it is mild and I can ignore it.

You are supposed to continue the amoxicillin also right? A lot of times they give those two in combination from the beginning.

ETA - I wasn't saying you were freaking out lol, it was more in reference to some of the extreme responses you were getting. And it generally takes about 48 hours to see a lot of improvement from antibiotics in a case like yours.

Please dont wait for pain before taking your advil. Take it round the clock every 4-6hrs; whatever recommended dose is to keep pain from hitting you full force.
For at least a couple more days.

Rememeber, antibiotics don't kill bacteria, they keep more from being produced. There is about an 18hr lag before you could possibly see any change.More likely 48

With the new antibiotic I look more chipmunk then bulldog

I do not expect to be or look normal right away but I am happy to see that this one is working better. The swelling had increased while on Amoxi.

I have developed shaped red patch on my cheek, I bet that is where the infection is, tempting to take a needle to it, kidding.

I managed to get some sleep last night and I made rice pudding so I can eat something besides soup. Problem is I do not feel like eating anything. All these meds have made my stomach hurt.

Well I have to think of some creative way to wear my hair today since I have to go to work.

Have a good day all

I am so glad you are feeling better. That swelling had me worried. So glad your dentist got back with you and called in something different.
