Our pump is broke. No hose. No water outside
Just finished moving the hay, elevator and taking down the fence. The hay is on the way right now. Luckily it's only 95 degrees and not 10,000 baggillion degrees. Gotta haul some more water from the house b4 they get here....

I'm sorry. Poor baby. I hate hauling water more than anything. Probably because I end up spilling most of it...

Sorry to hear of your troubles.
We have a water bed and the spigot part for filling it attaches to the sink and then a garden hose run into the bedroom to fill it. Could you get that spigot attachment and thus be able to run your hose from the house out to your critters, thus saving hauling lots of buckets?
Growing up on the farm, we've put many hours into haying in the summer heat. Anyway you could rig a fan up as you're stacking it? or just set it off the trailer from the delivery people and then stack it on a cooler day? We've done that before, just thrown it in the shed and re-stacked it later. I know, that's handling it more than once but a cooler day does have an appeal.
Hope it all works out for you.
God bless,
jd

Or get a Y from Lowes and attach to your cold side of washing machine. We do it in reverse with the hot water if we have a hard freeze.

New hay is all stacked in the hay loft! WHEW! So glad that job is done and I don't have to worry about hay for the winter. The hay guys (eye candy btw ) said that all the hay is drying out and dying and the prices are going to soar and it's going to be very hard to find good hay this year. I'm so happy I have MINE!
Now...have to put fence back together and put elevator back. They didn't even use the elevator...these guys were in very good shape and threw it up. wowzer!
Now if hubby can get the well working we will be golden!

oh, I feel for ya!! I called the neighbor and asked about that hay sitting across from me. its last years, 3rd cutting alf hay. net wrapped. bales unbelievably heavy. he said he's got a guy coming to see it so if I want some of that pile (or all?) to take it. pay later. wahoo!! I can pay for almost half, and he is fine with waiting for the rest. at least the goats will be fed. now for finding horse hay....

this heat about zaps me too. I do get plenty done inside tho., but I see alll that stuff outside that needs done! and I love to be outside, what a pain.

just a bit closer and I would've gladly helped. hope your well is getting fixed!

WOW..so glad that you are back up and running with the water..that is an absolute fear of mine.

We too got hay today...200 bales..got some kids in to help us. I really had to talk hubby into that..but after they left he said he was really relieved that they came and helped. It was 98 in the shade on my porch at 6:00 p.m.

Jake..the buck..is way too hot..don't know if he is going to pull through this or not. Got a 10 year old rooster that may fall to the heat also. And my doe Louise, aka Weezie, 14 is not in great shape.

If it was a matter of just getting through this day or tomorrow .. it would be one thing. But I just saw the forecast for NEXT week. Nothing below 93 and starting Wed. it is 98 for the rest of the week. Rain is scattered and north of us..no breeze tonight. I am bracing myself for what may be on the horizon here. I know others must be feeling the same way with their livestock..especially the old ones.

Gee whiz Minelson..I whining on your venting thread. Can I buy ya a beer?

So glad you have all your winters hay & water outside again! At least you can spray everyone off on these hot days now.
Sounds like a good time to fill the old duck pool & sip a nice cold beverage!

Good morning Minelson! We live in southeast Iowa..between Muscatine and Burlington. If we lived on the other side of the state..we'd really get together and celebrate!

Hope all is well with you and the homestead this morning. I haven't seen Roo yet, but Jake and Weezie are still with us. I guess we do what we can do and then it's up to God.

We're getting closer to getting most of our hay bought for the winter. We have 4 Dexters that people have to come to get and then I think we will be small enough to make it through the winter..one more time!
