Joss is doing very well tonight. She is scarfing down food as hard as she can, and smiling at everyone. Apparently she isn't going to let a little thing like two brain surgeries within a week, and removing half of her brain slow her down! A well known surgen in this field said, in a vidio that I watched, that children who have this surgery may not be able to be doctors when they grow up, but there is no reason that they can't become lawyers!!!!!!!!!!! rofl

I was just looking at her Facebook page. She seems to be doing better after the second surgery than the first. Has she stopped seizing?

Cathy, so far so good. They are never sure until about 6 months out. They say that that is the critical time to see whether or not they have stopped. Keeping my fingers, toes, etc. crossed!!

Ok, unfortunately Joss had another seizure this afternoon. The doctors say, though, that it isn't at all uncommon after this kind of surgery, and should go away before too much longer. One of Jennifer's friends, who's son had the same surgery, said that he had seizures for almost a year before they stopped.

On a good note, Jennifer got to hold, cuddle, and play with her for most of the afternoon!

I hope I'm not boring anyone with this thread, but you people care about things that most others don't, and Joss' family can use all the support that they can get right now.

Ranger, if we were bored, we wouldn't keep checking and praying for Joss and her family. While it's sad that any family has to go thru this, I'm glad that they have made friends with another family that is familiar with this, hopefully they can get some comfort knowing the little boy and watching his progress.

Joss is still in the hospital, but doing pretty well. They are thinking that they MAY have to put a shunt in because the fluid in her head isn't being flushed out as fast as it should, and that causes her head to swell. So far they aren't sure.

Jennifer says that Joscelyn is starting to get irritated at being in bed all the time, having an itchy head without being able to scratch it, etc. That is actually a good thing 'cause it means that her little brain is functioning just like any baby's does. She's BORED!!!!!!!!

Poor little thing. She just wants to get back to being Joss. The itching IS good, but boy, that sure would be hard not to scratch!

I think this is sounding very good. The shunt would be temporary..right?

Continued prayers for Joss, family and friends. The hand of God is surely in the mix.

Thanks Ranger!

It looks like she will have to have the shunt put in after all. rats However, the PT said that she couldn't believe how far along she is in getting movement back on her right side.

AND SHE TALKED THIS AFTERNOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
