Ok, so I went and spent some time with my girls and the lump on the one is definitely smaller today. I outlined it with a different color marker and compared it to the original circle. It does seem to change shape depending on how she moves so it was difficult to get her to stand in the same position again lol!

Oh! and re:their ages someone asked. Our billy is only about 9 months old. the other two I was told were approximately 14 months old. I wanted them to be older than our billy b/c he gets a bit rough sometimes. He loves to rear up and "play" with me. he's never actually head butted me but he will put his head on me and push me around. any suggestions on how to handle it? I normally grab the base of his horns, twist his head around to the side and yell NO while I stare him down.

My goats think that ACV is really called koolaide. They drink a lot more water with the ACV in it and it keeps my buckets clean.

At least the seller knew what CL was! Did you ask about the lump when you got them? Do you know if they got shots? It looks like a shot lump to me. If you just have the 3 and are not adding any more soon - I would see if it goes down before I would do anything else. Is it hard or soft?

And they are REALLY cute!

I have been in contact with the owner. Before we bought the goats he was honest with me and told me he had quarantined one b/c of a lump on her. He had his vet check her out and confirm that it wasn't CL and the lump has since gone away. The lump on Bella (that is her name) has been really hard. Like I said earlier though, it is much smaller today. A little smaller in diameter and no where near as tall, but not quite as hard. It almost feels like normal muscle now when comparing to how her other shoulder feels.

we use ACV for all kinds of remedies on us and our kiddos. It is great at breaking fevers and helping with colds etc in humans. I give it to my goats and our chickens as well. We've got nearly 40 chickens.

oh, and thanks for the cute goat comments. we love them

Congratulations on your new and very pretty goats! I am betting it is a shot lump. CL lumps usually show up in lymph areas and the middle of the shoulder is not a lymph area. It could even be a sticker or something that has festered. If you want to be sure, have the vet take a sample of what's inside and test it.

Welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of goats and the goat forum.

They all look like very sweet goats! I agree it looks like a lump from a shot that was given.

I have been putting apple cider vinegar in all my goats water for years. I don't know any medicinal purposes that it actually helps in goats other than they Love it so they drink a lot more water which in turn helps keep their urinary system good & flushed.

Ford zoo, ACV will not prevent stones in male goats, there is not enough acid in it to really dissolve them but if they drink more it can dilute their urine & also urinate more which keeps them flushed out. I also don't think it gives me more doelings & like I said been using it for years.

I read some where (can't find the site now ) acv will help give more doelings when put in the bucks water. All my goats but one have gotten a lump from cd&t vaccine.
