Jess was 38wks, 4 days when she had Zade... she has been thru hundreds of goat births, seen 2 non-medicated human births.. but still.. this was her first time, for it to be her...

It was interesting (and helpful) to know so much about what happens to the does before hand... our does usually have a day or so of gumpy/grippies about 48 hours before they kid.. bashing their friends, shoving.. just not so nice.... Jess said she was feeling that way on tues .. very edgy..almost wired..(granted she DID NOT.. head butt any of us, thankfully )..... Wed morning, she said her body felt different... that was the first time she mentioned her hips feeling really loose..on the sides, down towards her middle... then that afternoon her entire plug came out in one big piece (most of our does also loose theirs in one piece) with our herd they usually kid the next day (sometimes it will be a couple days, but usually they start with a totally lost plug and then the liagments go completely, within 24 hours) Jess said late wed night she felt like she does right before she starts her period.. not cramps.. but that achy, almost crampy stuff, no pain, just off)... morning milking (thursday)was when she told she would be having him soon (we didn't really it would be that soon LOL).. she said everything inside her was ready, she had a calmness about her.. (she didn't how she knew.. she just said her body *felt* ready)... and she was totally loose, she could feel the baby pressing down .... had she gotten to push when she first felt like it... he would have been born just about 24 hours after the loss of her plug... (((I so wanted to just stay home and deliver him .. or pull over and let her have him in the car... but I just wasn't prepared and knew I'd never forgive myself if something happened to either of them... I had a hunch he was sunny side up from the back labor she was having... I was fearful that she might not be able to push him out and we'd be in a world or hurt))))... next baby.. she better watch out... yaya will have the lube, the towels & the suction syringe ready and waiting LOL......

good luck with your baby... Precipitous labor (labor lasting 3 hours or less) seems to run in our family.. I had my first son in just about the same amount of time that Jess did... I went from first pain to ready to push in 17 mins..(dilated from a 1 to a 10 in that time).. my son was also sunny side up.. but I was 41wks 6 days/8lbs 5 ounces.... so I had to push.. much longer... so we knew there was a *slight* chance of Jess having the same type of labor... well that slight chance turned out to be a biggie!!!
