You know Ranger, I am still trying to figure out if it was placenta or uterus (via web searches)....it was definitely firm and muscle like, with what looked like 'buttons' on it--from what I have experienced in afterbirth so far, that is all very soft and 'mushy' not firm. I have one friend that thinks it was our doe pushing so hard (since he was gone and not helping) that she pushed her uterus out, and another that thinks it was the placenta. I have searched photos online, but unfortunately none have really helped me.

I just thank God that I was able to reach around whatever it was to get him out and save her. It's amazing what we can learn with our goats, isn't it!?

I'm so sorry for your loss, and hope you NEVER have to go thru this again. Fortunately, you kept your wits about you, and did the right things! ((hugs))
