Sounds to me like they are lying to you about a baby needing milk so you would feel pity and practically give them a goat. Common practice on Craigslist apparently.

And....whaaa? So is the neighbor's wether a companion for your doe or do they want a doe as a companion for the wether? Lol.

Because I know I'm more concerned about where I'm going to get a good milking doe and then after I figure that out I'll worry about a companion that won't get her sick.

Sure wish you were close to us. Buying all this milk to feed these twin doelings is expensive.

and ohhhh.... THE STORY GOES ON!!!!!!

I stopped by to see my very good friend and we began talking about some people who came to see a doe she had for sale, and as soon as she said something about how they acted when asking her "the questions", I asked what the names were and sure enough.... lol
Turns out these people have been looking at goats for several months... thats fine. They need to get what will work for them, but my friend had the same complaint I did. They treated her like she was lying!
And then one of them was trying to be rude and said something to the effect of "but your goats are at a high risk because you take them hiking. I want a new test (her goats were also tested for CAE/CL in November, I drew the blood! And they had the whole herd test in hand!) My friend said "sure, but it will be at your cost"... And my friend told them that people that show have a higher exposure than out hiking ... and the lady just about flipped!!!! All of a sudden it was "people show sick goats???" and she tried to explain that they do not appear sick but that they go through a vet check and the lady kept interrupting so my friend pretty much gave up. She was smart though, because after hearing about the financial problems she declined to sale to them... (btw: her goat was being offered at $125 MORE than my goat was)

Oh... AND they DID NOT believe a goat could produce so much... EVEN WITH DHIR TEST PAPERS IN HAND!!!!!!!!!! I just about flipped a lid when my friend told me that! Those are STATE tests!!!! The only thing they don't have on those papers is the goat berries!

one more thing: I did not have her advertised. These people sought me out. They were referred to me by several other people in the area...

This reminds me of a recent "cowboy wisdom" quote of the day from one of my favorite Facebook business pages: "If you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it."

These people sound like a kettle of crazy to me. I wouldn't stir it by selling them your goat.

I agree with the others I would NOT sell her anything. Much less a goat. No need for a reason, she is your goat, she is not now for sale to them. Thats it. I can forsee 100% problems with them in the future. I raise, sell and show dogs, I have had people just like this, it always turns out badly!!
