I got another ounce of colostrum in her last night with a syringe without a needle...she actually sucked on it for a bit. I have more heated up and I'm going out right now to try to get her to take some more.

Up a little late Mamma-B?

I do hope the little one is "chuggin" right along!

I'm so sorry about the two that you lost, but the little doeling is a doll. If she is up and walking around she's nursing. Hazel's buckling was so sneaky that I probably only actually saw him nurse two or three times ever. They just like to get you nuts.

I went to bed at 9:30 and then got up at 1:30 to feed Cookie's baby. I got a bit over an ounce into her again. This time, she was sucking hard on the syringe (she hadn't been sucking up to this point), so I ran to the house, got the bottle and pritchard nipple, and she sucked on that for a bit. It was a delightful sight to see her actually sucking and swallowing in rhythm.

I'll get Cookie up on the stand again in an hour or so and try to get the little one to latch on. I SOOOO do not want to take care of a bottle baby, but she was severely hunched-up looking when I tried to take pictures of her last evening and I figured that I'd better try to get some more colostrum into her. She looked a lot better when I went out at 1:30 in the morning (after being fed at 7:30).

I milked out a bit more from Cookie yesterday afternoon to try to avoid any problems in case the little one isn't nursing...I only took maybe a couple of ounces.

Ok...I must shut up now because I fear that I am rambling and not making much sense. That's part of the doe code, isn't it?!?!!?
