Great idea to have the autopsy/necropsy done, it will answer questions for you & also may save the rest of the goats you have with those answers.

I am truly sorry you loss the little doeling, alsways the tough part of owning animals.

The CD & T toxoid vaccine is given once then a booster of the same thing 21 days later. Then 1 time a year after that.

The antitoxin is good to have on hand for so many different things, better to have it for when you may need it than not be able to find it if the need arises again.

I was told the cause of death was due to complications from a twisted bowel...

Monkeybackfarm... I am sorry for your loss ... I am so glad that you took the time to have her necropsied. It is important to know the health of your herd and if this was an isolated incident or something that could cause further problems.

My wife and I have had goats for over 20 years and have just about seen it all. We have surmised that at about 3 months of age goats jump and play and seem to be susceptable to a "twisted bowel".

There are just some things that vaccinations, baking soda and home remedies just do not handle. You should take comfort in the fact that there was nothing you could have done to prevent this!

Again.. sorry for your loss and sharing the cause of death with us.

Oh, I'm so sorry, at least you know now what happened and it was an isolated incident. I've said it a lot but I find these types of things the hardest thing about having livestock. {{hugs}}
