So darned tired...

If Trub doesn't kid today, I think I will just dissolve into a puddle of Pony! Tears <tm>

We are both so tired - tired past the point of where we can sleep, almost.

I'm going to try lying down now (just had some lunch), and I'm going to get about around 2:30 - 3:00 (which is when the lute should finally kick in).

<sigh>

Please pray that this gal goes before bedtime tonight. I have to head back down south tomorrow, and I'd like to make sure she is all squared away before I go. Nick's been absolutely champion through this whole thing, but I don't want to leave him holding the bag when I'm gone.

Nighty-night, Folks. TTYL!

prairiedog 02/25/12 01:18 PM

Good luck keeping my fingers crossed for an easy timely delivery.

Sending goat popping thoughts. <3

Ranger 02/25/12 08:30 PM

I hope this silence means that babies are just popping out and she's sitting back and enjoying it!!

JBarGFarmKeeper 02/25/12 09:56 PM

I don't know Pony or Trub and I wish they would hurry up all ready! The suspense is killing me...I, too, pray doelings down on them. :)

Pony 02/25/12 11:12 PM

36 hours, and nothing but a very thin string of goo.

Nick says we should just use her as a barn... of course, that necessitates hollowing her out... and that's not happening.

Going to google "dystocia"....

Pony 02/25/12 11:24 PM

So, should I call Yarrow and wake her up, or just keep waiting a few more hours?

yarrow 02/26/12 12:07 AM

actually yarrow is STILL AWAKE.. just getting ready to do night bottles.. I think she needs another go-round of the lute (not the dex tho)... you know that if you've got a string of goo... she is at least starting to open.. my fear is sideways kid/kids not putting any pressure on her cervix.. so it's not opening like it should... have you go in and checked for dilation???

susie, mo ozarks

copperpennykids 02/26/12 12:20 AM

Agree with Susie (again, LOL).

Perhaps when you go in to check for presentation you could massage the cervix a little bit and gently open up the vagina with some lube and light finger pressure (first hand closed, then wiggle the fingers and expand the circular area (I am sitting here doing it but can't quite figure out how to type what I mean, ;) ).

Let us know....

SilverFlame819 02/26/12 12:37 AM

I'm expecting pix soon... Jus' sayin! :p

I was thinking how to describe it too... I've already explained the cervix feeling like a little rubberized cheerio .. with sort of the texture of the end of your nose LOL.. I guess the hand position for *going in* would be to lube up you hand REALLY well.. put all your fingers together (your hand looks sort of tulip shaped) then once I'm *in* I use my middle finger to start going gently round & round.. then another finger... then another... Last night Carla did not progress.. she hit 39 hours.. I had to go in, manually dilate her..I found two HUGE bucklings as tangled up as two kids can get (chest to chest, legs around and behind one another.. the biggest one's head was upside down & backwards... it was impossible to untangle them one handed.. thank good Carla is wide!!!! I ended up having to use both hands in her at the same time.. it took a lot of twisting and turning and sorting.. but both boys & mom are fine... I'm just concerned with Trubs history of quads and now being several days over due ... and the induction not having results.. that there are going to be issues, if we don't those kids out soon...

susie, mo ozarks

KrisD 02/26/12 01:07 AM

Good luck Pony and Trub! I hope you get those babies out soon. I have small hands I wish I was there to help.

Pony 02/26/12 02:56 AM

This is Pony's DH Nick. All four kids alive. 1 boy straight, next girl breech, next boy breech, next girl breech. Everyone's tired. Gotta go bring Trub some warm water, brb.

Pony 02/26/12 04:10 AM

Pony! here.

Wow.

Went in to dilate. Took some maneuvering, but got in there and found a nose. Had to root around to get the feet under it, rearranged so feet were under the nose and pointed out - then had to help her get the first buckling out by pulling. Man, did I feel bad for Trubby!

Next one was up just THAT fast, but back feet first. Not enough room to turn her around, so figured, "Gotta get it out fast!" and I did.

QUICKLY followed by another boy. Back feet first, totally stretched out the long way, and she was pushing so hard I couldn't turn him around. Gave a tug and out he slid.

Number Four was a tough one. Her back legs folded up, presenting hocks first. (Don't these kids read Fias Co's site? Sheesh...) Did my best to turn her around, but despite her exhaustion, poor Trub kept pushing. Figured the best I could do at that point was just straighten those legs out and get the doeling out. Trub pushed, I pulled, and SPLOOSH! Last one out of the pool.

Trub cleaned all four kids with a loving ferocity that made me feel she was going to be okay. She's eating and drinking, and the placenta is hanging out with a pretty knot tied into it.

Two concerns:

1.) Trub's voice seems to be gone. She was coughing a bit, but making this raspy sound at the back of her throat. Of course, being who I am, I started running through the worst-case-scenarios in my mind.

2.) She was still straining a bit, seemed to be having contractions, but we both bumped her and didn't feel anything in there. Hope we're right and that there are no more kids... There was a blood clot - bright red - that came out a little while after the last kid, but we did not note any more blood after that. Hope it's all.

I am beat. Nick is uploading pics. Must be wide awake from that adrenaline rush. Did I mention that my husband is gem? He held that goat and was the best partner in getting those kids out. I am blessed.

And tired.

Good morning to all.

n9viw 02/26/12 04:30 AM

Goat prawn up at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v1...20Kids%202012/ . Be sure to tell Patrick, he'll be delighted at more goatie pics! Sorry I didn't get the play-by-play, but it was pretty intense in delivery and I forgot the camera until the action was over.

Pony! milked out about a half-gallon of colostrum-rich milk, and we tried bottle-feeding the littles, but they kept falling asleep with the pritchard in their mouths. All they wanted to do was sleep- lazy buggers! She piled a nice heap of fresh stemmy hay in the corner for them, and lined them all up, some were asleep as they hit the turf.

Yes, Trub's voice is hoarse, sounds like an old bulb horn with a bad reed. But, on the flipside, I don't think she's been able to take a breath deep enough to use it for the last two months, no room in there! She looks like she caved in, poor girl.

Dreamgoat Annie 02/26/12 04:58 AM

Omigosh, omigosh, they're wonderful! You did great Pony, you too Trub. I am soooooo happy for both you! Been worried, been sending Reiki, will keep on sending toward everyone's well-being.

Gotta go--Milo is screaming. It's 5 AM bottle time but I just had to check on Trubby.

Wow! Fantastic! Happy ending! You girls done gooooood. :o)

Sue

P.S. When you're rested up, could you please tell me Trub's basic breeding? Yarrow says she came from Emily's and she sure looks like my Martok (thus a large percentage of my other Nubians since he's their daddy). She's gorgeous and I would love to know.

Rockytopsis 02/26/12 05:51 AM

Beautifull babies, long legs and ears.
Nancy

DamnearaFarm 02/26/12 05:53 AM

Whew- glad that's finally over!

Great job, everyone :)

Backfourty,MI. 02/26/12 06:19 AM

Great Job Trub, Pony & Nick. Hope you have a safe drive south Pony.

Beautiful Babies, 2 of each is good & all healthy is even better. Trub looks like she's very attentive to the little ones.
What sex is the little brown one?

prairiedog 02/26/12 07:02 AM

Beautiful babies. Glad she is done and you can all get some sleep now.

Minelson 02/26/12 07:19 AM

Oh my gosh!!!! (((((TRUB)))) ((((PONY))))(((((NICK)))))) What an intense event! I am so glad everything came out all right!! I'm sure you are all so exhausted!
Congrats on the babies!!! They are adorable!! those legs are so long!!! :) :) :)

Dreamgoat Annie 02/26/12 07:43 AM

Oops. Well done, Nick, too. I guess I haven't met you yet--just Pony and Trub!

Sue

wintrrwolf 02/26/12 08:09 AM

Atta girl Trub!! You too pony and nick!! They all look to be of good size hard to imagine Trub carrying that many, that size and to go full term. They are gorgeous!

Suzyq2u 02/26/12 08:58 AM

Congrats, good job, all of you! Get some rest :)

yarrow 02/26/12 09:17 AM

ahhhhh, thank goodness... I stayed up until 3am, just so I could be coherent in case you needed verbal help (afraid if I actually was asleep if you called.. I'd be so deep, I wouldn't hear the phone).. so happy they are out safely out and doing well (oh, sidenote.. breech births are not really an issue in most cases.. much easier to just go ahead and deliver that way, then to risk tangling them by turning... just get the back legs straightened out if you can) . I've had does deliver with hocks pulled up... it's amazing what they can push out.. I had my arm INSIDE Giada, turning one of her buck's neck.. she decided I had him turned enough and pushed him out with my arm still in there!

On her voice.. watch her any signs of labored breathing, rapid breathing... coughing.. .sometimes after a doe has carried a big load for a while... the fluid buildup can lead to some sort term congestive heart issues.. (not trying to scare you, but know you have a vet tech background and are already playing out all the bad things it could be)... I lost Cold's dam to heart failure the day she kidded... so I'm always a tad paranoid..

so happy you wait is over.. get some sleep
