I give my doe the CMPK orally because she LOVES it that way. I feel like it gives her a boost without having to inject her. She is not sick when I do this just VERY pregnant. Her first time she had calcium problems with her triplets - I now use it as a preventative and have not had any more problems - I also hate to stick them.

If she stops eating and goes down be sure to treat for ketosis.

Oh that poor mama! Lordy I hope she dominos soon. I can't imagine how that must make her feel. You are a wonderful person to be lifting on her, just don't hurt yourself. I just can't get over how she is carrying those babies! Good luck, can't wait to hear how this turns out!!!!

No matter what the outcome, I would suggest giving her a very long recuperation/recovery time.

I agree with this. I'd definitely have a vet look at her. We've had older Nubians that we've bred in the past and neither they nor the older nigerian dwarves we have now carried their kids that low.

She will be 4 in May. I have her registration papers. She has won reserve grand champion at the county fair the past 2 years so I don't think the sway back is normal. I think it has to do with her pregnancy.
She was in a different spot when I came home tonight. Not sure if she managed to get up or if she just scooted there. She was a little more perked up than earlier. I will see what tomorrow morning brings. I hope she is still alive when I go out in the morning. This makes me nervous!

In my case though, this didn't happen suddenly. She has been carrying low since I picked her up in November.

I would wonder if she looked like this in her last pregnancy, maybe she ruptured it then and this is a repeat injury

End of January?? Poor girl! I had hoped her due date was sooner.....

My Alpine carried low for about 3 days before she delivered, but the rest of the time she carried high & out to the sides.

Crossing my fingers for an easy delivery.

Great article and it looks plausible to me. If your girl can't get around it may be harder to wait til the end of the month and intervening early would probably mean demise for the kids.

Hoping all is well this morning...

Gena

i think this is a well written article and a lot to learn from. i would continue the cmpk and would give fortified b complex. i would change the grass hay to alfa hay.
i think she looks a bit thin over her spine and would benefit from more caloric feed.
hoppefully you can be there when she starts kidding. if she would be my doe, i would not breed her again.

Well, I went out this morning & she was gone. :-( I decided to cut her open to see how many kids she had. She was carrying quads again. Of course 3 does & a buck. They were all gorgeous kids. When I cut the sack open on the last kid out, it clearly had an infection of some sort. Yellow fluid that looked like pee came out. Dark yellow fluid that had a smell to it. Any ideas what that would be? I am sad she is gone, but at least she is no longer suffering.
