Just wanted to chime in and say there is NOTHING wrong with running a buck with does and having them kid 3x in 2 years. In fact, boer breeders do it all the time. Just because DAIRY goat people generally don't do it because it messes up the lactation curve, does not mean that it is wrong or hurting the goat. It does take more of an intense feeding and obviously top notch care to keep the doe in condition and healthy, but it CAN be done. The goals achieved by intense breeding may not be yours, but that doesn't make it wrong.
As for the buck, he's not a dud. Likely, it's the pH of the doe that is causing trouble. This pH can be altered with different foods even.
A buck makes a LOT of sperm. 50% of which is female. It has been studied that female and male sperm live better in different conditions. Someone was dead on when they talked about statistics - that's all it is. Yes, you will get extreme cases especially when the sample size is small, but that doesn't make the likelihood of the NEXT kids sex any different - you're still 50% as likely to get a doe as a buck if you consider JUST the bucks reproductive capabilities. That is simply genetics.
