I have only really looked at selling at a auction this is only my second kidding first one was done in march, currently im working on quality and quanity I do a lot of culling some of the current Doe's I have will be going towards the market as I breed or buy to replace doe's that dont meet my standards.

I want to start exploring other marketing areas though also, but I work a full time job, plus the farm and go to school the same as my wife we do keep busy.

That's impressive, Slugmar! School AND work AND farming - BOTH of you! I'm never complaining about the work load ever again! Kudos to you!

I would be in "my oats" as Granny use to say. My husband asked last night how many billies you use to cover that many nannies. We only have 5, one ready to drop and the rest are due middle Feb. I can't wait. The more the merrier.

QUESTION: Did you use CIDR or is this just with the buck running with them?

This is three bucks running with the herd, after im done kidding Ill be building 2 100ft grow out pens and 5 buck pens and do selected breeding. mpete you should come by one day and take a look im still building everything but always need help hints and ideas.

We are at 46 babies now, this is all on red clover/grass hay mixture and I give cdt shots to the adults plus worming and hooves trimmed

the kids are all getting bo-se and cdt and the moms that just gave birth are getting a 1lb of grain in morning and a 1lb at night.

Cute kids. Our neighbor two doors down is due to kid out about 20 meat goats next month. Brrrr!

None of our little dairy goat ladies are due to kid until March or so. There's a reason for that! I can barely drag myself out there in single degree temps to milk. No way I want to be out there waiting for kids!

I sent you a PM with my cell! My does didn't take when I exposed them earlier this year, or I would be having babies too....

Have you ever looked into covexin 8 instead of CD&T? A couple of other breeders use it (one down the road from you), and I may not have lost my Saanen doe if I had used it. It's the same as CD&T but covers more of the varieties of the Clostridia bacteria. I have some on order from shasta feed in Cottonwood, but I wanted to do a little more research on it.
