My deepest sympathies on the passing of your Father.
I agree with the other nice folks posting here that you need to give yourself some time to think clearly.
Meat goats are fine and I raised Boers for awhile when I worked full time.
I had dairy goats for many years prior to the meat goats and I liked my milk goats better. Meat goats are bigger and stronger and not as friendly(my fault as I had to maintain a distance so I would not get attached to them)
I just cut my herd back until I could sort of afford them.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. As for goats, I would suggest you ask this fellow what he wants to pay for goats, and maybe get it in writing, before you make the investment. Around here, meat goats don't pay well enough to be worthwhile because we have to purchase so much of their feed. If you have lots of forage for them, they might make sense in your situation.
