I suspect your problem is that you live in CA where it's always nice and warm, how's a goat supposed to work with that?

This is awesome! Thanks for this thread. My goat waited until I was at work today to kid. I had been watching her like a hawk. Looking forward to the happy ending.

Me, too!

I desperately needed a laugh, J, and I darned near wet 'em when I read your post. Thanks!

In the meantime, sing some lovely show tunes to your goat. Make your voice as irritating as possible. Write your own lyrics, and make sure they convey the message that goats that don't kid when they're due are goats that are in for some rough times.

Use words like capretto, cabrito, you know...

I feel your pain. Hope she delivers on a pretty day, in the morning, and throws 4 doelings.

I think that you should show HER the pictures of herself!!!! Then she'll have them just to get her girlish figure back.

Joan, take a break and watch Pat McCurdy sing "Disaster Girl" - your op made me think of this song, and it's been in my head ever since.

I'm assuming since you haven't posted in 3 hours that you're at least recording the blessed event of a new world record being born for us?! :P

What is the record now, 7?

I sold two pregnant does last spring to a young man wanting to get into the goat business. I got an email from the boy a month later and he told me the older doe gave him 4 bucklings and a doeling. The next night, the other doe (the first ones daughter) gave him 3 more bucklings and another doeling! I knew they were huge, but didn't see that one coming!

Good luck!

Oh Man! 33 posts and a page two! I raced to the end of the thread, and i just knew!....

Okay, we'll wait a little longer with you. Naturally, we all hope for an easy kidding - and typically with dairy goats, little doelings are the preferred pay off - but with meat goats, aren't little bucklings the hoped for prodigy? (I know WE were hoping for a little buckling).

Standing by with good thoughts!

She kidded today; I am home sick with THE WORST CASE OF STOMACHE flu I've had in many, many years. I vomited on the hour starting at 10 last night. I didn't even have the energy to go out and check her until almost 2 this afternoon; she'd kidded and passed the afterbirth and cleaned both kids up. I took video:

Now I'm going back to bed. I think someone took a 2 x 4 to my kidneys.
