Completely normal.

I have my buck pen on the other side of the barn - out of sight from passers by - where they might be 'smelled' but not seen by those not 'in the know.'

Your post made me laugh the hardest...not sure why, but that was funny.

We are in the process of getting our first goats, and I cant WAIT for the neighbor who hates our chickens to get a load of the goats...she should have offered us honey instead of vinegar, her concern would have been more "listened too".

My bucks aren't allowed to spray on people and they usually don't 'mess' with themselves when anyone is near their fence. They're too busy wanting pets and ear scritches. If they start their business, we walk away. Don't ask me how, but they know they have to behave if they want to get any attention from us...that other stuff, they get attention from the does. LOL
As far as kids, little kids, we just tell them that they are cleaning themselves like their pet dog or cat would lick themselves to clean. If the parents want to explain the sexual antics of goats, that's up to them.

The worst language I ever heard my grandmother use was,"horny old goat!" Only after owning goats do I appreciate the depth of that statement.

After my tussle with Shaq he behaves (around me), if he gives me that look, I give a tug on his ear. Now he did manage to pee on my oldest DD she will no longer go near him. Yesterday was a wonderful warm day so I brought my little herd out to enjoy it, saw Cracker all hunched up and thought "OH no he is having tummy problem" then realized he was just taking care of business, awww my little buck has finally found himself!

He's behaving just like God designed him, you don't get much more Holy than that!
Pr-30:29
There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:

Pr-30:30
A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

Pr-30:31
A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.

I don't even get embrassed anymore when it comes to his buck stuff. You can't if you want to own goats.

For awhile our buck was housed sort of close to the neighbors who had a then 2 yr old visiting grson.
Grandpa, "What does a goat say?"
The grson answer; Insert buck in rut scream.

He always pees to the right so I stay to the left.

Funny! We just moved here and our bucks are housed towards the neighbors property line and they have grandkids coming to visit in January.

We really didn't do it on purpose, we just preferred having the milk does closer to the house...
