I could sleep in the goat leanto. We don't get real cold here but a lot of rin. The goats stay in on bad stormy days. It is on the south side of the hay shed. I don't do anything special, I feed first so my hands are warm. I use a milking machine since I have bad hands....James

Where in the world do you people get your information? Probably from the same folks who had me convinced that Nick and I were hardy because we know how to drive in MN/WI/IL winters, and could handle that climate fairly well.

The prairie brings a whole new meaning to "winter" - and it ain't nice and soft and Christmas card pretty, either. We get hot Summer temps, to be sure, but Winter is brutal here. The only time I remember really high winds was during the rare blizzards up there. Here, 30mph+ wind howls at the door (windows, walls...) on a regular basis for days at a time. Enough to drive a sane person nuts, and a crazy person stark barking mad.

Add to that frigid cold (yeah, in MO, how about that?) and you have some pretty serious conditions under which to milk.

Just sayin'.

While I do not like MO winters, I do thoroughly doubt that MO winters are worse than Minnesota winters...

I've lived in MN, WI, IL, and MO winters.

They each have their own attributes. I have learned that each is challenging in its own way. Wouldn't say one is worse than the other, but they are ALL intense.

Hm.

No, you know what? I can handle the winters up north, but the winter wind here just sucks my soul and doesn't bring it back until Spring.
