I'm sorry for your loss....
I had a dog hit by a car right in front of me...they never stopped but kept on going...tried hurriedly to load the dog for an emergency vet trip and she died in my arms before we could make it out of the driveway...She was always bolting out the door and she slipped by before I could stop her.

I'm very sorry for your loss Try not to beat yourself up Terry. I know you feel terribly guilty, but maybe Princess was starting to get dementia and that is why she wondered into the road when she never did that before. Or maybe she knew something you didn't and wanted a fast death instead of a slow, painful decline. I know this doesn't help...I just feel so bad for you. ((((hugs)))) Hang in there...the pain you are feeling will get less intense with time. I'm sure you are still in shock.

I'm so sorry Terry, my heart breaks for you. Nothing I can say will help, just know that we are all thinking of you during the difficult time. ((hugs))

I am so sorry for your loss T. Miller! Sending big hugs your way! It's so hard to say goodbye for what ever reason, try not to beat yourself up though, Even though her life was cut short it must have been her time & someone wanted her to go to doggie heaven.

I'm sooooo very sorry for you. I totally understand your loss.

That's the exact same way my childhood poodle mix died. NEVER went onto the road, and he was getting elderly, one night he didn't come back from pottying and there he was at the end of the driveway, the victim of a car.
