And letting this goat go on in pain and sick for 48 days isn't 'sick, twisted and barbaric?' Seems the very definition of, to me.

I dont believe it was meant to be cold hearted or mean. A lot of people put animals down that way. You are right we don't know you or how much advice you have taken. So how about you tell us what you are doing to help her and maybe then we can lend more advice.
I will say this she is going to die if you do not get her to eat. Which means if you do not get the tooth problem under control she will die.
I will speak for everyone on here (hope that's okay guys and girls)... we are here because we love goats. We are here to get help, lend advise, just chit chat about them. This is forum online where we can not talk face to face so we can't tell the tone from anyone on here but I do believe everyone here is kind hearted and is here to help everyone not hurt them.
Also I will say because we love goats we all get upset when we see one suffering and I am sorry your doe is suffering. Please if you can't afford to take her to the vet or find one close to you put her down. She is starving to death and that is a horrible way to go.

No one is judging you personally. All we have to go on is your info.
I once had a doe who stopped eating & drinking shortly after kidding. She got the whole nine yards but when she stopped eating & drinking on her own she died about a week later. I should have put her down after all reasonable attempts were made to get her back on her feet, literally. It was a slow heart wrenching death.
No, slitting throat is not barbaric. Some say it's as painless as the bullet.

Not barbaric at all. But instead a grand finale of your love for an animal, a totally selfless act, or an act out of compassion.
Try putting a horse down, after 30 plus years of friendship (we had 2 actually, one 30 and later her daughter 29), or your faithful loyal livestock guardian who ultimately would give her life for your benefit, or the pet who put herself between you and an angry mother pig.
Barbaric? No. Absolutely not. They were put down BECAUSE we loved them, and they are buried here where they loved to be.
And that love went far above our fears, sorrows, guilt trips, and nightmares to come because it was what was best for them.
When push comes to shove you need to do what is best for them, not you.

HF this brought tears to my eyes. It's so true, we need to do what's best for them not us.

Brought tears to my eyes & so true!
boerfriend no one here is trying to be mean or judgemental we just all love our goats & most of us animals in general & we care. Like Donna said this is a public forum & we are all trying to do the best to help others here when we can. You've been given alot of good advice here & we just all want whats best for your dear sweet goat. She most definately is suffering & something really should be done, actually a long time ago & although I know it is really hard to loose your dear friend I know you surely don't want her to suffer either.
I think it is Muslim people that use a knife to butcher a goat. They think it is the most humane & make sure the goat never see's the knife. It's done in seconds. Crazygoatgal here just sold one of her boys too a muslim family & watched the whole process. She said it was probly the most humane butchering she'd ever seen.
