yeah exactly.
i don't know if people really have a clue what it cost and how much time is involved to raise a healthy and productive goat?

And as much as I loved them just meeting them, I cant even imagine how much we will love them when they are ours.

Yes.

Once!

When I was 9.

I think a refresher might not go astray lol.

Tallahassee eh? We are all the way over the other side in Volusia County. Florida never looks all that big until I want to go places. Its almost 6 hours to get to Tallahassee from here

our son almost had his ear ripped off by a goat with horns the first time we tried to milk her. Had to go to walk in and get it glued. Caught him right where the ear meets the head.....
But after a couple of weeks of the goat rodeo we had a girl that would stand still and get milked out quite nicely.
Nothing with horns comes on the farm anymore though and all the girls get disbudded as soon as we can.

Yep, its a hard and fast rule with us too. Why arm your livestock? How awful for you and your son though!

A dollar a day easy I'd say- not counting your labor which I bet for most of us is upwards of 2 hours a day or fencing/shelter. So at 1 yr old you're talking $350 and around 90 man hours for one doe if you spend 15 minutes per day per doe. Figure that one at 10 dollars an hour and well, we don't like to think about it- but hopefully her kids pay for it or some of it.

So it's really not nice to expect to buy even a yearling doe at half the cost it took just to feed her to that age.
