I for one certainly wasn't offended by any of the remarks or stories. We don't visit friends or family without calling first, that's just courteous. And we don't appreciate unannounced visits from sales people, Mormons or JW's to our home.

Any stranger who comes to my home without an invitation is being pushy and rude. It is an invasion of my privacy so yes..I'm going to be rude.

I am in complete agreement with this statement. I am a Mormon but I would never go around in a rural area and trespass on people's property. It is disrespectful in my opinion.

We had a big Rhode Island Red rooster that was a very friendly fellow - a stray that just showed up one day. My dad and sister used to give him treats any time they came over so he would always run up to cars in the driveway - chased off his fair share of "missionaries" of various stripes before he disappeared. Sure do miss him. Hmmmm.... we have a couple of very friendly bucks that would probably go running up wanting attention... maybe I should let them have free range of the driveway. lol

Sorry but Jehovah Witnesses are both rude and pushy.

Ditto. If we're not friends, you're not welcome. If you're sellin' something- books, religion, tupperware, whatever- just stay put. If I want what you have, I'll figure out a way to find you.

I hate for the JW to show up here too! Too bad my goats don't hang out in the driveway, I do have some pretty smelly scarey looking bucks that might work!
Our barn is over 200 feet from the driveway & JW showed up in the barn one morning while we were down there doing chores, I couldn't believe it!

Way back in my youth I shared an apt with a buddy. We were harassed by JW's for a while until one day we saw them coming and started yelling insults at each other, like we were going to start brawling right then and there. We were having fun, acting like a couple of real scum bag jerks, faking a soon-to-be violent argument. But they took it seriously, and never came back. I guess they thought we were beyond redemption.

Wow, we are a bunch of privacy lovers, aren't we? HAHAHA I too, Hate uninvited interuptions. Big Tom turkeys are another fine addition to the driveway. Not too many people, even family (!) will get out without seeing me invite them to.

Unwanted, uninvited visitors that come to my house don't have to wade through goats, or turkeys. No, they get to walk up a clear walk and onto the porch without even the dogs being able to bother them. This really should make them suspicious. Because then they are going to knock on the door and I am going to answer it and I will not be happy...

Do not bother the dragons for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup!
A couple weeks ago a steak salesman drove up to my house (which is not visible from the road) intending on selling his steaks. Jacob my 4 month old LaMancha wether stood atop the stairs and stared him down with his neck arched and hair standing on end. The man wouldn't even come close to the porch! LOL He asked me, "Is that real?" "Yep," I answered. "Is it safe?!" he asked. "For us he is," I replied. He high-tailed it back to his truck!

I actually don't mind them. Heck, around here (given that RJ works in law enforcement) if the only reason a stranger calls is to drop off a bible, I feel relieved! Of course, I do feel compelled to warn them about our free range geese.
"Oh gracious, thanks. Do they attack?"
"No, but they do gunk up the yard quite a bit. Those are pretty spiffy shoes you're wearing afterall.

I had a bunch of my old friends get religion back in the day. They became "Born again Christians" or Jehovah's Witnesses! Surprisingly the JW's still considered me a friend but the BAC's thought I was too sinful to continue our friendships!!! The again, I suppose the JW's think they can save me!
Anyway I know all those people, so either have to visit with them or not go to the door, heave big sigh.
I couldn't be rude to any of them.

yep...I love my privacy! That's one reason I live in the country. If I didn't care about privacy, I'd move to a subdivision and start a garden club!!
Last time a van load of them pulled up in my yard, my Pit Bull kept them in their van. She is a big sweetie, but makes a LOT of racket. She keeps people in their vehicles. NO one gets out of their cars when Bailey escorts their vehicles down my drive way. GOOD doggie!!! lol!

I think we could all use a Gretta!
Love it, and I totally agree with your request for privacy and respect.

I also had a steak salesman come in one day. Took one look at my HUGE dog, and asked, Does he bite? I said, Not when I'm here.
NEVER want anyone to think it's safe to come around when we're not here.
