My new buck and two bucks for sale
My new Lamancha herdsire was born in April, I brought him home in May, and he is growing like a weed!! He does not have a name yet, but his dam(Amberwood H.G. Aren’t I Pretty) and sire(Amberwood’s H. T. Triton)can be seen on the Amberwood site, here: www.amberwooddairygoats.com
I really like this guys attitude, such a clown at times and then he suddenly gets dignified. It is very hard to get good pics of this guy as he is always on the move. Lookin' forward to his kids next year! http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...habuckling.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...abuckling2.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...anchabuck3.jpg Here he is beating up a weed, trying to impress the gals on the other side of the fence. When he was finished, the weed was flat.:) http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...orthegirls.jpg And I have his litter brother, and another young Amberwood buck here as well. They are for sale. I had extra milk and Joan was running low. These boys are good-sized and will be ready to breed later this fall. Big boys! And I still don't think I will ever get used to those poor goats who've had their ears cut off...everyone says they are so cute...all I see are aliens trying to pull off a goat costume! :p
|
Big boys is right ... how old are they? I love all of them of course :-D
|
These lovely "aliens":D are all April-born babies. They are already thinking of girls.......

Celtic Knot & Joyful Morn have the full sibling to my buck and his brother. Shakespeare is last years kid, so one year older. He sired my little Celtic Knot Experimental doelings, Viola and Olivia. http://www.celticknotlm.com/buckbarn.htm
This little guy works all my lines together again. I'm excited about using him. |
Congrats! New bucks are always fun, wondering what you'll get!

Those are some gorgeous boys, even if they are aliens. :D

I much prefer cute little ear buds of the LaMancha to the mindless yelling of the Nubians.
*says the once devoted Nubian lover that has since defected to the LaMancha* |
What Oak Bucket said x2. I still love Nubians but at a distance...LOL
|
He could be King Neptune since Triton is his father! He's certainly handsome enough! I adore my LaMancha wether, Jacob. :D

In fact, I haven't heard one make a peep all day and I have several. My toggenburg and lamanchas are more talkative. |
I so much prefer my quiet, gentle, lovely Alpines that sweetly accompany me everywhere to either the loud Nubians or the in-your-pocket LaManchas. ~smiles~
Ahh, personal preferences! Luckily, there is breed for everyone.:) |
Oh, I wish that I lived closer to you!! I would love to get one of those boys.
|
You have to call that fuzzy legged buckling "Gaucho" because he is wearing fur chaps!
I like ears but those are some really nice bucks! |
How handsome they are!
|
All of them are nice, nice, NICE!

All three of those big boys ON THE LAMBAR! Makes me chuckle.
|
Like those Triton kids Emily !!! If I weren't buck poor, that littermate would make a nice addition !!!:hair:grin:
|
I love them, but I'm also admiring all the green. My county was declared a federal disaster area yesterday-due to drought and fires.
|
What beautiful, growthy boys! :)
noeskimo- I'm with you there!! My eyes kept trailing to all the greenery....that color seems so foreign now! On goats.....My Alpines are beautiful, IMO they are the most elegant looking breed. I adore my Alpines.. Mom had Nubians for a while, got rid of them, not so much because of noise, but for the lack of brains two of her does had....Went back to Alpines.... I've seen many complain about their nasty tempers, but I've never had a nasty tempered Alpine... I have my very first stupid Alpine, Bleuberry.......She is horribly LOUD & not a single brain cell lurking in her skull, but she's sweet & mild mannered so we try to forgive her disabilities.....she's "special" I was VERY much against the alien goats.....Until I spent the day with them ;) Which of course led me to driving 3 hours & bringing home this: http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...2-53_372-1.jpg And seriously.....how can you NOT love that face?? :p So, I have caught the Lamancha bug......now instead of thinking "Why would anyone want an earless goat?!) I think "How much longer do I have to wait before I can get another one?!" |

My favorite is the Amberwood buckling. Even at that young age, I can tell he's going to be a macho 'Mancha. All your boys have a nice build, but his is my favorite. If DH hadn't just lost his job and you were closer, I would love have him as a herd sire!!!
Oh and the "cutting the ears off comment" - obviously, they are born like that. I love both my LaManchas and my Saanens although my earless wonders are my favorites!!! |

Things like that make me wonder where they got their Alpines, because I want to avoid those lines. My Alpines don't bawl and bleat every time they see me. They do come to me when I sing, just like everyone else. They don't climb on me like my Nubians used to, or trip me. What the do is wait until i am comfortable and settled, then they come up next top me, lean against me, and quietly ask for scratches and pettings. To me, the Nubians are like that bubbly, cheerleader type friend that we all have .... always loudly happy, babbling at you, trying to cheer you up, and bouncing around. While my Alpines are that quiet, soft friend with the slow smile that you want to share a relaxing sunset with. They don't speak much...but they are always nearby, ready with a soft muzzle if you should need an ear to scratch. *********************** On the LaManchas... my understanding is that they are not nearly as noisy as Nubians, but they are not silent like Alpines either. They tend to be in-your-back-pocket affectionate and are not given to temperament problems. They have the unusual ears that DO require some extra care and consideration. For these things, they are not the goat for me. Even if I were going to add another breed, I would be more likely to go for the laid-back Saanens, or perhaps NDs again to miniaturize my Alpines. |

But I... I am smarter than you goat pushers, selling your cute, earless kids to honest folks who have NO IDEA that soon, they are going to buy more and more LaManchas...that it will become a craving that bores into their very wallets..... No. I refuse! I refuse to be trapped in a never ending spiral of Munchie addiction...until I am living in parks (because they have manicured lawns for goats to munch) holding up strangers for the bits of cash in their pockets, so I can get my next 'Mancha fix. Nope. Not gonna happen. I am stronger than that! Now excuse me, but I think I heard of someone who had a Redwood Hills Alpine doeling that they can't keep anymore and I was thinking that if I just sold some plasma..... |
LOL, Caliann. I haven't had to deal with icky ears either. They got a little waxy in the winter (maybe because of winter hair) but it cleared up on its own.
