We raised boers for about 6 years and I sold every last one last summer. Our market here is terrible and I lost money every year with the boers. Parasites were a huge problem and while I culled and culled, I finally had a group of good nannies and a great buck, but I hated them. (although they do taste good) But that being said, you'll get praise from breeders of both kikos and boers. We trasitioned to dairy breeds which do much better for us, I have a better market, and the little bucks I don't sell fill the freezer just right. I get both meat and dairy.

Everyone has different needs- I personally don't want a milk goat as I produce meat only for myself. A Boer will dry off nicely after the kids are weaned without my having to milk her out (except for one doe once- she kept going and going.) Also I have yet to have one who challenged fencing- too lazy to leave I think.
Also I love my Boer does- they are pretty undemanding and easygoing.
