Selling out

Feed prices have got too high for me to be able to afford. That coupled with a parent with Alzheimer, something just has to give.

The doelings, Bella and Joy already have a new home. Bella is going back to Tin Mom and Joy gets to go with her too, so that makes me happy.

I may have a home for the bucks.

That leaves my beloved Tally and Hershey. They are both CAE neg with current test results. They are both giving about 3/4 gallon a day. Both are registered and from Celtic Knot lines. They have to go together because they won't have any other goats to be with here.

I am asking 400.00 for the both of them.

I will work on getting current pics of them on here and on my website.

LoneStrChic23 06/17/11 01:10 AM

Oh no!! Audra I'm so sorry :( Feed prices are horrible right now, as is hay.....I've really had to pinch & rearrange things in order to keep up.

I do hope you can find them good homes & perhaps try again at a less hectic time in your life.

Creamers 06/17/11 01:17 AM

:( Oh! I'm sorry!

steff bugielski 06/17/11 07:06 AM

That's hard on you I am sure.
Just a thought... With the bucks gone perhaps you can keep the two does dry them up and keep them on pasture plus hay. Might be enough of a decrease in the bills to manage. Not much upkeep for just two with no milking and such.
Just a thought.

nehimama 06/17/11 07:30 AM

Sent you a PM.

kirkmcquest 06/17/11 07:37 AM

Sorry to hear this, but maybe you can keep one or two. Things might change again in your situation.

Backfourty,MI. 06/17/11 07:58 AM

I am so sorry you have to get rid of your goats Audra, I know how much you love them.
Hugs sent your way! A parent with alzheimers isn't easy either, my MIL also has alzheimers.

Rechellef 06/17/11 09:18 AM

I am so sorry Audra on having to give them up. I can't imagine how I would feel if I had to do the same thing, but would also do the same thing for my human family. If I were closer, I would happily buy your two girls from you.

Oat Bucket Farm 06/17/11 10:41 AM

Thank you guys. This hasn't been an easy decision for us and we will miss them terribly. We thought about drying the does up and keeping them as pets, but that would be a terrible waste of two wonderful milk girls. They will be better off where they can have pretty babies and give some one else wonderful milk.

The Tin Mom 06/17/11 11:20 AM

If anybody near SE Kansas/ SW Missouri is interested, I can try to bring them back with me when I pick up Bella & Joy.

Hugs, Audra.

noeskimo 06/17/11 09:19 PM

One of the saddest things, is the death of a dream. I am so sorry.

So true. Audra, when you are ready, I pray that we will have a baby dream here for you!!!! I promise that we will do our best!

Ranger 06/17/11 10:21 PM

Oh, Audra, I'm so very sorry. Please don't leave us here, you have a wealth of information to share with everyone. I'm sure that one day you will be able to have goats again.

"Like".

Oat Bucket Farm 06/17/11 10:38 PM

Thank you Tin Mom. And everyone. It is beyond amazing how much goats can wrap themselves around your heart. Its going to hurt to see them go. I am glad that they are getting such good homes.

Oat Bucket Farm 06/17/11 10:44 PM

I will still be here. I will have to live vicariously through all of you. Besides, maybe I will catch occasional pics on here of the babies and the girls.

hyamiranda 06/18/11 01:53 AM

I'm so sorry about all this. I do hope that in the future you'll be able to bring goats back into your life. I'm sure that when the time comes we'll all be able to help you out.

Oat Bucket Farm 06/18/11 10:41 AM

Thanks Miranda. I am really going to miss the way BigWig grunts like a pig when I scratch his chin.

KrisD 06/19/11 05:34 PM

So sorry Audra, if I lived closer I would buy them with a clause that as soon as you were ready you could get them back. Sometimes life sucks big time and this is one of those times. I look forward to learning a lot from you as even though I had goats years ago Things have changed alot and I am a newbie again.

Suzyq2u 06/19/11 05:51 PM

Oh they're beautiful. Not what we're looking for, but CLOSE! I'll keep working on DH ;)

Minelson 06/19/11 07:25 PM

I'm so sorry you are going through this :( ((huggs!)))

Oat Bucket Farm 06/20/11 02:14 PM

Thanks. Hershey,Tally and Rio are going to Nehimama. They will have a great home with her. Bella and Joy are going to Tin Mom, and they too will have a great home. And Bigwig has also found a home where he will be loved and happy.

They will all be safe and with people who know goats and will care for them. I couldn't ask for more since I can't keep them. At least I won't have to worry about them and I won't have to see them pop up for sale on craigslist and click on the ad and see them skinny, scruffy, and neglected.

Suzyq2u 06/20/11 02:50 PM

I'm glad you were able to find them such good homes :)

uncleotis 06/20/11 03:21 PM

I'm sorry for what you're going through but am glad your goats are going to nice homes and will be well cared for.

Pam

Kshobbit 06/21/11 09:49 AM

Audra,
I have been off line for awhile. I was "shopping" on craigslist and saw your advertisement for the two bucks. I have been looking for information as to what happened? and why you were selling.
I understand completely and sympathize with your difficult decision. Know that when you are ready to go back into the goats you will have many folks eager to help you get restarted. Hang on to your milking equipment!

Oat Bucket Farm 06/21/11 11:35 AM

Thank you Hobbit. This has been extremely hard. BigWig left this morning. All of the others will leave this afternoon. Things are going to be very empty without my sweet Munchies here.

ozark_jewels 06/21/11 02:12 PM

I'm sorry.:(

Oat Bucket Farm 06/21/11 05:02 PM

They're all gone now. All of my goats are off to their new homes and it is soooo empty here. I miss them.

nehimama 06/21/11 05:46 PM

My heart hurts for you. I'm so sorry for your situation. (((hugs)))

The Tin Mom 06/21/11 07:55 PM

They made it safe & sound here for the stop over until they can make it to Nehimama. They are all doing well, but look a little lost.

My heart hurts for you too, my friend. Joy & Bella will be well loved here. Dd13 announced on the way home that she wants Joy for her own.

{{{{Hugs}}}}

hyamiranda 06/22/11 01:35 AM

I'm glad you were able to find them all good homes. I'll have to try and keep track of them from a greater distance and see how they are doing. Thanks for giving some of my wonderful goats a chance to get out in the world.

We were glad to add progeny of your goats to our herd. We have had a couple of friends stop by over the last couple of days & they commented on OBF Almond Joy & Ronan and how beautiful & sweet they are. BigWig throws nice kids!

Thank you very much. That makes me feel pretty good about life right now.

nehimama 06/22/11 10:04 PM

It looks like the girls and Rio have already settled in nicely. Milking time was a DREAM. Nice, nice, NICE girls, your Tally and Hershey. Thank you again, and I'm sorry for your loss, but at the same time, happy for my gain. (I hate to sound all happy when you're so sad. . .)

(((huggggggggggs)))

Oat Bucket Farm 06/22/11 11:40 PM

I am very happy for your gain. It was heart breaking to let them go, but comforting knowing that everyone is in good homes.

Pony 06/26/11 10:43 PM

Oh, Audra, I only just now found out b/c of your FB post.

I can't even begin to know how awful you must feel. {hugs}
