I can feel every knob on the spine of my goats, even Jodi who didn't breed last year and I can grab a handful of fat on her ribs. She is one fat goat. You can see her here. She's not getting grain but not bred and not milking she has been packing it on :/

I find it extra disturbing that the ad makes mention of the owner observing the Sabbath. Seriously. If you believe in God, you should believe in taking care of that which he has made.
Starving an animal is unforgivable.

ARGGGG!!! These make me so flipping angry!! I know I shouldn't have looked at those ads. It never ceases to amaze me how people can just ignore an animals needs like these. Is it not obvious to them there is an issue?

Wow - That last ad is sick, though the first is bad enough!
I have two that are thin - BP worm issues - we are working like mad on it - but you can look at the whole herd and see everyone else is rolly fat. . .but these are neglect cases - period - above.

I wish I could make myself stop looking at Craigslist, but I do find good stuff too. I just got 2 dozen fertile Ancona duck eggs from an NPIP breeder through an ad and I have been looking for awhile.
But why do I keep looking at goat ads? I don't need any more goats!

Its just not starvation also when Im out doing custom haying I see alot of goats and there feet are messed up so I started offering to do feet for people also so far not many takers but I do have one regular client I see monthly.
I only charge 1 dollar per foot also unless they are way far out there then I charge a visit fee (basically something to cover gas).
It just seems alot of people get goats and don't do the up keep. There is alot to do to keep them healthy and in good production.

Oh my goodness, this thread made me cry. I love my goats so much, I can't see how people can treat their goats in that manner.

I picked up a couple lamancha does that were that thin earlier this year. They had been bred too early and weren't ready to be milking heavy. They have been an uphill battle ever since. I'm planning on holding them back from the buck this fall to give them some rebuild time of eating grain and hay for the winter. Depending on their condition, I may breed them in late winter/early spring for some summer milk but I doubt it.
The lady I bought them from has always sold me good solid animals but didn't have these goats at her place when I bought them. I bought them sight unseen and it turned out that they had been loaned to a friend of a friend to do some backyard brushclearing. They were so skinny when I finally got them you could almost see through them.
