Yeah that is what is happening. Your dogs are leaving your property and they shouldn't. It really is that simple.

It was seconds from becoming lunch. It sure was scared.
Your dogs left your property and harassed livestock. That is illegal and they can be shot. Or if they kill the animal you are responsible to pay for it.

It doesn't matter whose goat it is.

You are obligated to keep your dogs at home within your property boundary.

Yup, me too. This thread anyway. You want someone to tell you that your neighbor is 100% wrong and you are 100% right. Well your neighbor is wrong but so are you. And so is the owner of the goat.

Three wrongs (you, neighbor, goat owner) don't make a right but a couple of good fences will.

Maybe the town will be more understanding of loose dogs. No loose goats or pesky neighbors to deal with. Although if it were me having to choose between running a couple strands of hotwire or having to sell, pack up, and move(especially from the country to the town), well there would be no contest. I think a relocation is rather dramatic response to a simple problem.

Sorry you cannot resolve this issue with your neighbor and your dogs.

If it's your neighbor's loose animal you are concerned for, maybe call animal control to come pick it up. If the preds are heavy in your area, maybe they'll take care of the goat and food scraps for you, but if you were to pop into the Pets or Guard Animal forums, you would see that coyotes commonly make meals of pets larger than 30lbs as well. Another HT member almost lost their full grown Border Collie the other day.

Since it's obvious your mind is made, I'll stop wasting my time on this thread. I hope you can find a resolution before something terrible happens to your pups.
