Vitamin B does not help build iron. However, goats (and people) need proper nutrition to absorb their food. Iron is an essential element. It must be present in their food. B vitamins help increase the goat's appetite and the vitamins combine with other nutrients to help absorption.

I use the Quest gel. If you use it, just make sure you empty the entire tube, mix well and then draw your dose out.....The active ingredient may not be distributed evenly in horse gels so its safer to mix it prior to drawing out your dose...
Best of luck to you.. I highly reccomend reading the dairygoatinfo links Alice posted for you.....those, along with the Goat Keeping 101 Section of www.dairygoatinfo.com are something every goat owner should book mark and read.

You must act fast and recovery will be VERY SLOW.
Cydectin - and then do it 10 days later . . . the quest dose is less than cydectin dose. . . I do 1.4 times the horse dose.
Red cell daily - 5-10 ccs. . . for 5-7 days . . . than every 5-7 days for MANY weeks
Give b12 vet RX injections every other day - 1cc per 100 lbs
if you cannot get it, do B complex, but it is not going to work nearly as well . . .
This will take a long time, but she can recover.

Do Not Overdose the Quest! I confused the dose with the Ivermectin, bad bad bad. Lost 1, and 4 more had severe headaches for a few days.

Cannon Farms has said that Pyrantal Pamoate gets Liverfluke also in the high dose. I use Valbazen for Liverfluke or IvomecPlus, but I think it would be good to cover Liverfluke also since the doe is critical. I would use the Pyrantal first then the Cydectin in a few days if worried about bleedout, and give both 3 times 10 days apart. Also mix the Quest like Crystal said. My does eyelids didn't get better till I wormed for Liverfluke so that's the route I'd use.

I would go with the pyrantel palmoate since your goat has parasites that are obviously resistant to ivermectin and moxidectin is in that same family. Besides, pyrantel is the safer product and at least in France there is no milk withdrawel on it.
Haemonchus Contortus (Barberpole worm) can suck blood before it is laying eggs, so the number of eggs present is not always correlated with the number of parasites. A relatively small number of Haemonchus can cause serious problems.

Vitamin B 12 is what you need - not the thiamine.
B12 RX can still be ordered even though thiamine is on backorder. . .
RED CELL makes a world of difference. Don't let anyone tell you it does not- I've used it many times and even alone it will start to deepen the eyelid color in one week.
Any herbal wormer at this point is beyond useless. . .as would be DE use.

Yup, you're right - it helps the body absord the iron better.
So vitamin B12 is Rx? I've not heard of needing straight B12 for anything.

**** I just noticed last night that her hair is falling out ! She had some dried food on her back, probably from the other one, and when I tried to pull it off a "ton" of hair came with it. I did not pull that hard ! I grabbed a small amount of hair in another part of her body and the same thing. !!!
Ideas?

ok, I was really starting to freak out ! I checked the other goat, and she is not sheddig at all like that. Whole clumps would come out if I grabbed them. Her coat is very dull and wirey. I haven't been able to give anyone a bath because the weather can not decide what it wants to do and I don't want to leave her wet when it's cold and windy.
I plan on using baby shampoo, would that be OK?
Thanks again all

I would NOT bathe her. Why bathe a goat? Unless you are showing, most folks don't bathe goats. They don't like water, and there is no benefit to bathing a goat. Brush her if necessary for your peace of mind.
Do you copper bolus?
