Though nothing like Alice's Migration, we once moved from Wa to Oregon with a huge U Haul towing a 54 Studebaker truck. In the back of that truck was the chicken coop & most of the hens still layed eggs on the way.
Elmer the truck didnt have heat, the window flipper was missing & one wiper didnt work. My daughter was born in it a year later. I cried for a week when we had to get rid of him.

Wow, thanks so much for posting that Alice! We've hauled new goats home from Texas Hill country twice to Idaho during summer months. The first time I remember the Nubian does being so hot that we just stopped occasionally for gas and kept driving all night, trying to get away from the heat. We were really frightened that we were going to lose them due to heat stroke, poor girls. It gets hot during July and August some years here in Idaho, but it's a dry heat, nothing like a Texas heat.
