Thanks... it was quite a shock to us all... her 69th birthday would have been tomorrow.. I just induced a doe to kid tomorrow.. wonder if Mom would've liked a goat named after her???? the day she died we had 3 does ready to pop.. being so busy, actually helped a lot.. we are all still heartbroken..we'll head down to TX (sister/brother live there) sometime this fall.. before breeding season

I totally agree with summer just being to hot, when you are hugely pregnant (had my son in late aug.. in a year of record breaking heat in Oklahoma..I was a week over due, it was 113.. the dog got out & I chased her for 2 blocks.. came home & passed cold out on the kitchen floor!!!... BUT.. we've already decided if plans work out for that july/aug/early sept grandbaby.. we are going to dry up ALL the does way early.. and Jessica will get to spend those months laying around in the AC and not having to do chores!!! so it shouldn't be too horrid for her..

susie,

~hugs~ Susie, so sorry about your loss!

My daughter's name is Jessica. Her birthday is August 31st......I do NOT recommend a summer pregnancy to anyone. I spent the last two months in a state of suspended animation, in a recliner chair DIRECTLY under the ceiling fan.

My daughter, Jessica, also says she does not recommend a summer pregnancy. My granddaughter, Briona, was born on August 5th. SHE got A/C and was still miserable.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.

But, lol, may your DD actually achieve planning a human baby! We tried to plan DS - really we did ... did you ever hear that saying "Men plan, God laughs"? Anyway he's here, and healthy now.
While there is never a good time to have a baby, there never ends up being a bad time either. Though summer pregnancy is awful! DD was born August 2nd - in FLORIDA!! I'd have lain on the floor and cried, but I wouldn't have been able to get back up.

My condolenses as well Yarrow, its neat that your family (including your Mom) understand.

Ive been chewed out for not carrying pictures of my grandboys. The 9yr old comes to spend weekends alot, but the almost 4yr old hardly know us.
But get this! The 2yr grson of next door when asked what a goat sez he imitates the buck in rutt sound!

So sorry about your mom, Susie. {{{Hugs}}}.

My children were all adopted - so, even though the oldest was born in late August, I didn't notice much additional discomfort that summer! LOL! Of course, since we waited four years for her, I guess that made up for it.
