Wow, I love those pasture pictures...especially the one where they are the farthest away. It makes it look like they are wild!

 lalalala I can't hear you....
See, I should have looked back at the papers before rambling. I was thinking it was Andy who was direct, not Bunny. Mostly I was thinking "hmm, I want some of that in my herd..."
Bunny gifted us a doeling. And Midas (who I swear thinks he's a Puppy dog) helped our original mini produce two lovely little bucklings in February (they're colored just like the ones Creamers has - sorry folks, pictures are beyond me at the moment - the camera won't attach to this computer - maybe doustthouhavemilk will take some when she drops Kieran off at my place on her Columbus trip )
Actually I'll be in Bowling green that weekend, and I don't think dh would accept delivery of another goat if it milked liquid gold.
We took Bunny to the county Fair for 4H and the judge called her a natural in the show ring. She loved all the attention! She didn't think much of milking at first, but she settled down nicely and has good teats. I need to dry her off soon because she should be due again in May, but I'm waiting until I feel babies move or a few more weeks - whichever comes first.

The oldest doe we have had kid is 11. Kait kidded twice for us. Se had Legacy at 9 years old and then Destiny at 11 years old. She had kidded at least once as a two year old, maybe as a three year but had not after that until she was nine.
Snow White delivered twins at 10 years old last year. Her 9th freshening.
Ursula will be ten when she kids. She came from the same herd as Kait, so wasn't bred until I got her.
Actually in Milky Way's age group is also Elegance and Liliana. They were born in March/April of 2002, all three half sisters. MW and Elegance are both bred for sure. Liliana (in the second photo- the brown doe with the frosted ears to the front right) will be on her 9th Freshening as well if she is bred. She had a rough birth last year (her first rough birth) and may not have settled. She is due early April if she is bred.
With most of the older does, they were either born and raised here or they had long breaks before coming here.

It is so wonderful to hear an update on Bunny! And Midas. He would be a puppy dog. He was spoiled rotten!
You can email me at SkyLark_RKR@yahoo.com if you would like to talk about a Kieran son. As you can see, he has the lion's share above....lol

I'm expecting to see a number of does kidding at the same time. We have dealt with that before. Go to one doe, deliver a kid, dash to another deliver hers..back to the first for the second kid, etc.
We are in Barnesville, OH (Belmont County). Just off of I-70 between Cambridge, OH and St. Clairesville, OH. Sounds like you shouldn't be that far away.
You are welcome to come and visit.

dosthouhavemilk - I will keep the idea on my short list. I have to keep reminding myself that while I will need a new buck in September, I do not need a new buck right now (in fact, due to one of those lovely learning experiences involving alpacas and parasites, I have temporary space issues and need to not have a new buck until at least June.)
Barnesville is lovely, but it is so far! with the way gas is and my truck it adds $80 to the price of my goat. (or $40/ea to 2 goats, or $20 to 4 goats, or ....

We did some major shuffling of goats yesterday in preparation for the upcoming chaos.
19 does, along with 24 kids were moved from the milking barn pen down to the Orchard Pen. Three does and their three kids were left back. Two does (Natalia and Z57) are leaving for Indiana this Sunday so need to stick around. The third is Raven and her daughter Rowena.
We then brought up 6 yearlings (two are headed to Indiana as well, one of them bred- plus 4 bred yearlings) and 16 mature bred does as well to the milking barn pen. We had already shuffled the remaining 32 doelings/does and two wethers from the Orchard Pen into the main goat pen. Lots of work done.

Here are some of the ladies in waiting, plus three fresh does (Natalia {Black nubian with frosted ears, muzzle...fourth from the right in front}, Z57 {black nubian on the right with her head pointing down), Raven (black headed Boer on the far left in front} and a little Rowena (Raven's doeling) trying to climb through the fence to get to me. She was started on a bottle since Raven freshened with no milk and still gets a supplemental bottle twice a day. Which means she is near impossible to keep in when she sees a human.
The ten year old doe, Ursula, is the big brown Nubian at the very back in this picture. The mahogany elf eared doe in front of her is Elegance, a 9 year old.
Victoria kidded with a single doeling on the 4th.
Savanna kidded with her buck/doe twins on the 6th. Here is the doeling

The buckling is still on his dam, of course.

How do you keep track of them all? I have to do a three time a day roll call or I worry myself sick! And we have just 20 with 10 being babies. Not to mention I have become poop obsessed with the babys all 2-3 weeks old, " Did you poop, have you pooped, what does it look like? etc...

Update time.
Z105 (high % Boer) kicked off the kidding for this round on the 16th. Unfortunately, twin does. Why sad? She was one of the three does Kieran (Purebred Nubian) bred when he and Milky Way broke out with the herd. We have little to no use in our breeding program for 1/2 Nubian, 1/2 Boer doelings. So they will probably end up meat. I just hate doing that to decent does.
This is the one left on the dam

Here is the one we pulled to hand raise along with Giselda's Polled doeling

Giselda-P (Polled 3rd freshening 3 year old 1/2 Nubian, 1/2 Togg) kidded the 19th with what ended up being two bucks and a doe by Kieran, despite me mistaking one for a doe.
Here are her two bucks

The one in back is horned and the one I thought was a doe (I mean, really, wouldn't you want that to be a doe?!) The one in front is probably polled. If he is, there is a strong chance he will be bought for breeding locally.
About five hours later DeeDee (2nd freshening 3 year old 1/2 Nubian, 1/2 Alpine) delivered her twins by Kieran.

The beautiful black and white is the buck, of course. The doe is the brown one. I am just loving DeeDee's udder! It is her dam's udder all over again!

Just for fun, here are Ursula (left- 10 year old Nubian- 6th Freshening) and Milky Way (right- 9 year old 1/2 Nubian, 1/4 LaMancha/Alpine, 1/4 Saanen- 9th freshening and my avatar doe) yesterday. They were both due yesterday to Kieran.
It looks like Elegance (9 year old) is not settled for this round. There is a chance she is not bred at all but I hold out hope that she is simply due in May instead.

Another update. We have had 6 does kid since the last pictures.
Milky Way kidded on Sunday. I came down to find her with a bubble, but no hooves, no nothing. Went in and found ahead. Broke the bubble went in further to find three front hooves and another head. I ended having to call dad down to help hold her up so the kid would fall forward. At one point I tugged on the front hooves of one kid and the head of the other. Shoved them all back in, followed the head, to the neck, to one very pretty front leg. The first kid came out with just one front leg and the head. The second came out in perfect presentation. Both bucks. *sigh* We have only had one Nubian doeling from her. A doe I sold this past Fall. I was really hoping for a doeling this year. At 9, you just never know how much longer you have a doe.
Here are her bucks
A craptastic shot of the first born.. It was the white leg I managed to get out.

Here is the second born. I kept looking hoping I was wrong and he was a she. No such luck.
10 year old Ursula had been laboring while I was dealing with Milky Way's trainwreck. She delivered a buckling with very little fuss. I wasn't positive she was done so I stuck around and did a few chores. She started pushing and I went in to check. It was a breech. Pulled out the hind leg...no wait...that's a front leg...what? Pulled the other leg, also a front leg...but there wasn't a head. The head was tucked down below along the chest. Shoved everything back in and got the head up and lined up right. Again...two bucks.

Here were Pixie-P (Polled 7/8 Nubian, 1/8 LaMancha/Alpine), French Kiss (7/8 Nubian, 1/8 LaMancha/Alpine) and Jasmine-P (Polled 1/2 Nubian, 1/2 Alpine). The first two have since kidded, but that update is to come when I get pictures.
