I'm planning to use cattle panels that are 5 foot tall and 16 foot long. I'm talking the welded wire, not the pipe. We use t-posts for the most part so no digging. I do like how easy these are to put up and move when needed. They're not much more than the field wire I use now and the pony will have a harder time mashing it all up. As a plus, it will also be a good goat fence.

I've started to casually mention that once the fence it done, it would be a good area for goats. DH knows I've wanted goats for a while but we haven't talked too seriously about it since we had no where safe to keep one.

Hog panels. Stiff by themselves. 4' x 16'. $20 a panel. Holds up with a minimal in T-posts if you want something permanent, or use zip-ties for temp fencing. Available nearly anywhere.

CaliannG, you're right, they're 4ft. Don't know why I was thinking 5ft. Still, they're stiff and will hold up to the pony. We're replacing existing fence so the posts are already there.

ahahahni1, happy to hear you found a home for the doelings. When we are set up, the right goats will find us. I believe everything happens for a reason.

Exactly! I like to think that. Addie and Shortcake came to me when I was not even thinking of buying them when visiting a friends herd. And here we are with them forever with us no matter what. There is always the special ones. And the others I just argue with. And yes, to those who don't know it is VERY possible to argue with a goat
