How often do you need to give this to goats? And how many?

its all dependent on you area and feed system. Ill tell you what I do, and what is done but its up to you to do the research. Most of us do 2xs a year. They typically greatly bennifit every goat but can be toxic if too much copper is in the diet. I think everyone will agree the bennifits outweigh the risk.
Average does is 2grams per 50lbs of goat. Oat bucket farm just started a thread on copper and I put links on there to find out your soils mineral content, I strongly advise you read that thread as it goes in great detail about copper.
Copper will give them sleaker coats, kill barber pole worms and give an overall higher production values. I start at about 25lbs worth of goat if born in the winter, a little bit sooner if its a wet summer but I use it more for barber pole worm control than anything

Pat, come March I will be placing an order for the 2-gram copper boluses. I understand each casule is for 50 lbs of goat and that, at that dose, they kill the barber pole worms.
My area is not copper deficient; however, my aged herd buck benefitted from such boluses last year; so believe he will again this year. He weighs 250 lbs; so I believe that would be 5 boluses each time. Twice a year, I would need 10 of your 2-gram copper boluses. I understand they are 75 cents each + shipping. I live in Virginia. Can you let me know how much total that will be? (I never use credit cards anymore; so I will understand your needing to wait until my check clears the bank to ship; which is certainly ok.)

Rockytopics,
The copper bolus is VERY safe for pregnant does. They are mineral.
The copper bolus are not the only thing to treat for barberpole. It does a lot for like hooves, health, makes shine coats and no bald from the tip of tail and it helps a lot!

I cant even remember what I had broken down the wormer at cost but 25 cents each is fine on the herbal wormer.
Please let me know soon as I am running low on supplies

yes, greatly its slow released so normally you only have to do it twice a year.

Hi,
am reposting this to the right thread....
I checked out our counties copper levels and this is what it listed,
Copper Cu (ppm) 2.078 0.412 1.013 3.347
I read recently on another thread about "fishtail" and went straight out to see if our goats have that...
well, a couple of them appear to have it in varying degrees.. none of their tails are bald, but I can see the shape change of the hair there and I had noticed their coats becoming kinda rough and fluffy but figured that was caused by the cold temps, lol. The 4 month old bucklings are showing it the most.
We have 5 adult Nigerian does, 2 bucks and 3 babies around 4 months old.
Also, 1 two year old Alpine doe who had twin doelings 3 weeks ago and a yearling alpine doe. They have free choice loose minerals available which they do go through.
So...I want to order from you, but am confused on how much we need and have never given a bolus, will they just eat them in a treat or could I give each of them the dose in food or water?
thanks!
Ellie Mae

Temporarly I am out of bolus, waiting on more capsules to arrive. I have had a larger demand than I had planned for.
You must unfortunately force these upon the goats, once the capsules arrive so I can do my own goats I plan on making a video.
You in my non veterinary opinion you would need one for every 50lbs of goat, so a 100 lb goat would need two. If you do not have a tape or scale you can try the sheep calculator to get a general weight,
http://www.tractorsupply.com/content...t_calculations
Please email me with orders.
Thank you
