Hubby took a half day of vacation today and helped me in the barn. I removed the one divider and then decided to fill the back of the manger area in instead of leaving gaps like I had been doing, so I took all of that down and re-installed and then we cut more boards to fill it in. I like it much better this way. It's up with screws, so we can take it down later if we don't like it for some reason.

Here are a couple of pictures that I took when we were done.

Wait!!! Stop!!!! Too much!!!! I can't take anymore............

No really, I think both barns are just awful, but being the wonderful person that I am, I'll take them off your hands. It will be tough for my boar goats to live in such a small dinky place but we do what we can for our friends.

Wish I had that barn. When building a barn for goats, just remember they are climbers. We had to change things when the goats figured out they could jump on the feeder bens than up in the rafters of the barn. Got to love them.

ROFL Go for it! You have a right to show off what the good Lord gave you. It is wonderful to have kinfolk like yours!

Looking at your nice barns, I suddenly began thinking, "I sure hope she has some small machine she can use to clean the floors with." (My barn is not nearly as nice as yours, though about the same size as one of yours; and the bedding our small herd gives us each year is quite a chore to clean.)

Nope, no machine to clean the floors with. We do have a 4-wheel drive 4-wheeler with a blade on it, but I don't think that would help very much...it would just make a mess. So, I'll just back the cart up to the door and shovel it in by hand. Believe me, I need the workout!

ROFL mamabooh, that is exactly what we do; and it gets mighty tiresome.

My almost 7 yr old daughter and I cleaned our barn out yesterday. Used to take me two days to get it all done - but she and I did it in a single day. I imagine a 9 yr old boy could pert near do it all himself.

Me too! I don't mind a bit hanging out at the barn with the goats, etc. & cleaning stalls, houses or what ever. I just like it better when it's not below freezing temp.'s!

I don't mind the cold so much as long as I'm out of the wind. It's the heat that I can't stand. Anything over 72 and I start feeling all wilty. I'm a heat-weenie.

Isn't this a bit of over-kill for 2 ND's? I feel like my 2 ND's are seriously deprived now!

Hee Hee...perhaps you missed the part where I said I was hoping to get two pregnant does. I would imagine that there will be quite a few more in my future.

However, I do like to have way more room than is necessary for any animal that lives here. AND, if I don't claim all of this area for the goats, my hubby will find something that needs to be stored there!

Actually, I'm jealous for my self. Your barn is 3 times bigger than my house. I would put in plumbing, electric and dry wall and move in myself! ! Oh, wait, I see it already has electric! Does it have water too?

There is a water hydrant just outside the barn, but not inside.

If the house wouldn't have been in such great shape, we probably would have turned the barn into the house. We've always talked about living in the bottom of a bank barn and having the enitre upper part as a rec area. We DID turn the upper part into our rec area (sort of). We have all of our weight-lifting equipment up there, a half-court basketball court, and a tv and vcr so that I can do my mini-trampoline exercises. We also store our ancient pop-up camper up there and we leave it set up so that we can camp out there whenever we want to.

There is a grain room up there, so we've discussed putting a railing around the upper part of it, building some steps over the steps that go to the lower level, and making a sleeping loft. Our friends did just that...they have a ladder, a railing around the area, and two twin beds with a little dresser and table lamp. It's just darling! Whenever they have get togethers in the barn (which is quite often), all of the little girls like to go up there and play.

If we ever re-floor the south side of the upper level, we'll probably set up our ping pong on that side (it's just sitting there unused because we don't have anywhere to set it up). Right now, that side is too dangerous to even walk on.
