New Baby!!

Got a bottle baby Nubian doeling today:sing: Got pictures but it tells me I can't post attachments :( She's supposed to be about a week old, wags to see me and yells bloody murder to go outside. She is waiting to go outside for going potty!! Her poo is yellowish and strings out, I hope that's normal?

Creamers 01/20/11 12:53 AM

Did you only get one? You will need two . . . lol. The thrive poorly to not at all usually. . .in singles.

That said, I don't recall any of my kids having that type of poop . . .

What are you feeding her? You need to feed whole cow's milk if you can't buy raw goat or cow's milk. Only WHOLE - red cap . . . no 2%, skim, etc. . .no replacer.

horsepoor21 01/20/11 12:59 AM

I don't know much but when I had to bring in a newborn Nubian last month because of the temps , she had soft yellow/brown poo that was smeared all over the laundry basket I kept her in . She's a healthy girl braving the cold temps now !

CarolT 01/20/11 01:44 AM

She's making the transfer over to whole milk. They'd had her on goat milk or milk replacer when there wasn't enough goat milk (raising lambs, too). Mom rejected her :( And if Rosie will hurry up and deliver on the goo from last week, she'll have company LOL Got this opportunity and jumped it :-) Also, will have goat milk after Rosie gets going.

Manchamom 01/20/11 04:29 AM

Wow,how much fun a house trained goat. You may want to put vaseline on her little bum to keep poo from sticking and plugging her up. She should be fine with house attention for a few days.
To post pictures you need to get a free photobucket account and post from there.

Backfourty,MI. 01/20/11 07:06 AM

The yellow poo is normal for newborn babies.

Congratulations on the new little girl but you know we love goat pictures, baby or big ones!

To post pictures you need to first upload your photos to a photo site like Photo bucket or Flicker, etc.
The copy the img code of the photo & paste it here in the reply box.

julieq 01/20/11 07:24 AM

Congratulations! Sounds like you're going to have a very spoiled baby girl!

Cheryl aka JM 01/20/11 08:25 AM

email me the pics carol~ I'll get them put up for you.
How's mike (carols husband who did not know he was getting a house goat) take it?

Minelson 01/20/11 10:03 AM

Oh that sounds like so much fun!! Take lots of pictures! I wish I had taken more when mine were babies :)

CarolT 01/20/11 11:11 AM

He walked in, she yelled at him, he stopped dead and said "What is that?!" I said "It's a baaaby!" (Cheryl will get that one LOL She does it to her DH too). He said "Why do you have it?" I said "Mama rejected it". He said "How long does it have to be inside?" I said "Till it can be outside". He sighed and said "ok." Then spent half the night bleating back and forth with her LOL

pygmybabies 01/20/11 11:12 AM

love that! my husband would do the same thing i bet!

Oat Bucket Farm 01/20/11 11:33 AM

Whats with the new baby threads that have no pics? LOL Congrats on your new house goat and your understanding husband.

CarolT 01/20/11 12:29 PM

Don't have accounts at Photobucket or Flicker and don't like opening ones :( The more stuff a computer tries to do on dial-up the slower it gets. Cheryl will get them on as soon as she can :-)

Meanwhile, she's (the goat, not Cheryl) having a blast bouncing all over the yard with me... A 50 year old woman bouncing in the yard... Good think there's no too close neighbors, they'd call the fellows in white coats! Baby is so small I'm sure it'd look like I was alone!

No name yet, trying a few for size, but nothing sticks yet.

Cheryl aka JM 01/20/11 12:40 PM

Something has happened to my website. Possibly something bad...as in it seems to be GONE and I know from past exp fighting it I don't have time to fix it with my rat room torn up all over the back patio and snow forcast this afternoon.....

So baby pics are going to have to wait a few hours~ I'll try tonight...but if someone else wants to post them up for Carol I'm afraid it could take up to 15 hours to load once I figure out why the site is gone.

(Really trying not to say a lot of dirty words right now~ sorry about the pics guys)

CarolT 01/20/11 01:21 PM

Wow! I think it did! Here's what she does when I tell her to "Go piddle!"

once you have them online take the addresses and put it between the tags [ img ] and [ / img] no spaces (I only put the spaces in so they would show

Sorry I couldn't get them online after I offered to.

pygmybabies 01/20/11 01:50 PM

thats great! trained already...lol...she is soooooo cute!

CarolT 01/20/11 02:35 PM

ROFL! I hadn't noticed till now that she was sticking her tongue out at me when I took her potty pic!!

Cheryl, no worries! Just hope you find your website soon!

April 01/20/11 03:58 PM

What a sweetheart! That yellow poo can be pretty sticky. Get it cleaned off while it's pretty fresh or you'll be fighting stuck on toffee poo.

Oat Bucket Farm 01/20/11 04:06 PM

Awww, she is a cutie!

RedSonja 01/20/11 04:13 PM

Oh what a CUTE little girl. I love her color. And wow, you got her house trained...

So, if any of the anywhere from 3 to 9 babies that will be born here in June have to come in the house for any reason, I can just tell Greg, "But, Carol got her bottle baby house trained, I'm sure I can too!"

LMAO

You two are my kind of crazy. I need to get back down your way (and bring Cheryl's chicken bags!) soon! Cheryl I hope you get your website back soon, that really stinks that something's borked with it.

Pony 01/20/11 04:14 PM

What a sweet Nubian! Has she started talking to you yet?

Carol, I just lurv your new baybee!

Ranger 01/20/11 07:43 PM

Pretty pretty little girl. I've had a few in the past that got sort of house trained, but she's obviously a lot smarter than they were!!!!

CarolT 01/20/11 09:01 PM

Talking yet? Only if I get out of her sight LOL Had to work for a little today, so DH forwarded a message "Baaa baaa baaa baaaaaa baaaaaa baaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" I told him it should have been "maaaaa". He replied it actually sounded more like "Waaaaaaaaaaah". He tried everything but a bottle (not feeding time yet) but she apparently wanted Mama. Came home to all the lights out trying to get her to take a nap LOL

CarolT 01/20/11 09:05 PM

Oh, and the poo is getting better :-) Mama took tp and wiped her little bottom each time, so none stuck and it's getting browner and more solid like normal poo! (can't tell I'm besotted, can you?)

Rockytopsis 01/21/11 05:17 AM

She is a cutie, what's her name?

nehimama 01/21/11 05:48 AM

You've got such a cute little girl, and I'm sure she will earn her name soon. Congrats!

CarolT 01/21/11 10:32 AM

She still hasn't shared her name. DH says it'd be a lot easier to be grumpy about a goat inside if she weren't so darn cute! And personality! And, I'm in big trouble, she's way smart! And opinionated. <Sigh>

RedSonja 01/21/11 12:20 PM

Name her Baaaaby! :D You have to include the exclamation point in the name.

Babies are so darn cute for a reason. :) Works, too.

-Sonja

SilverFlame819 01/21/11 02:49 PM

Good lord. My mother names EVERYTHING "Baby"... It's so ridiculous that after the 10th or so animal named Baby we all veto her now and rename the animals!! She's gotten REALLY wild a few times and named a few animals "Brownie"...

So I'm gonna have to disagree on naming her Baby or Brownie! *lol*

RedSonja 01/21/11 02:50 PM

LOL I see. Just have to wait for her to tell you then :)

edited: duh thought it was CarolT that posted that, oops.

Backfourty,MI. 01/22/11 09:23 PM

What a little cutie! Congratulations! I always seem to name my goats peple names but I really like the name Darlin, like Darling only without the "g" at the end. She looks like a little Darling!
