I really appreciate everyones imput...... As it would be....I cannot get out to the vet office today as planned to have a fecal done.....we are iced and snowed in.
I have searched all over her body....hooves included. I do not see any injuries and her hooves look good.
She still is eating and drinking great! Loves her apples, sweet feed and molasses water. She just cant stand. I mean....pure dead weight. But, we have been putting her in a "sling" (off and on yesterday), and I will be diligent about it today as I am home (snowday...ya know). While in the sling she fights to try to move her hind legs and she will at times get some weight on them, but it doesn't last long. At this point in time....I am lead to believe she has been injured.
Still hoping and praying for recovery.
Her poo has softened up since yesterday. But, I half-way expected that since I gave her 3 cc Ivemec orally (about 8pm Tue) and she has been getting more feed than usual. For all those with much more experience than I, do you think I should give her another dose of the Ivemec? BTW...according to the vet, he says that pnemonia will try to take hold since she is not moving around. What do you suggest for that? I did see a little runny nose this morning.

I'm not sure the Ivomec your using but is 3cc enough for your girls weight? Also if the you are worried about Phneumonia & she has a runny nose she will need antibiotics for that.
Did you take her temp. since the runny nose? I hate to give antibiotics unless they are really needed but phneumonia won't go away without them. I think Penn G or Biomycin is what they recommend for phneumonia but hopefully someone else will jump in here about that.
If you get to the vet he can give you a RX antibiotic that lasts longer than the over the counter one's.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you & your girl. I wouldn't give up on her, it sounds like she's not in pain or sick. I would put her in that sling & get her up as much as possible. Or even stradle her over a bale of straw? to get her up? Just another idea.

It does sound like an injury, She will probably get pnemonia They frequently do when ever they are stressed. I use Naxcel, or excenell, but you can't get that while snowed in. So, try getting some extra Vit C in her give her 1000 mg to start.
If she has swelling somewhere that subsides then there may still be hope.
this reminds me of the topic by Sue Reith on why not to let your children ride goats, does anyone have a copy of that on hand? It gave a little detail of the symptoms, and that would be from an injury. I'm guessing maybe your girl got rammed hard. I would look it up but I'm using a borrowed and slow computer.
I don't think Ivomec is going to help her, but I use more than that. which is of course in my documents on the other computer at the repair shop : ) I think 1cc=50 lbs
I do hope she recovers for you- Sherrie

Everyone here has already given you good advice so I'll just say that I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer for your girl. I sure hope she gets better soon.

Update: Finally got out and to the vet...(a whole other story)....After lots of phone calls and a fecal.....it appears that she has a heavy worm parasite load. I did not see it coming and she doesn't "look like" she has parasites. Anyway.....she is still acting fine, drinking lots, eating well. So the vet advised "heavy" dose of a different wormer 1x a day for 3 days. Still have my fingers crossed. She is bedded down in warm hay. Ihave a blanket over her, and her daughter is keeping her company (as well as warm) at nights.

Yeah, but a least we are out of school tomorrow and I can really tend to her. I always dread the nights though . I just hate to go out the next morning, afraid of what I might find

Suspecting he prescribed Safeguard, which may not help, either. It's given that way. MANY worms are immune to it.
Did he tell you WHICH worms?

Oh I'm so glad you found out what was wrong and how to treat it. Keeping my fingers crossed that she makes it and you find her happily chewing her cud in the morning just waiting on you. We'll keep praying for her.

Do let us know which worms and what wormer. Enquiring minds (and storing these things away in case we ever encounter them).
So glad that you're moving in a positive direction!

Actually Safegaurd is noneffective around here. He told me to get Strongid......yes, he knows it is a horse wormer. He is actually a very good vet!! Around here there are no large animal vets. The vets only want to treat cats and dogs . I couldnt even get the "local vet office" to run the fecal .....long story there. But anyway....got it done and we are treating now. She is STILL eating fine, drinking fine. Matter of fact I accused her of "laying around" so she would get molasses water and chopped up apples. But, she still is not getting up. Hoping for the best yet!

I know the feeling- I have a mare who is in her late thirties and every morning, I give thanks that she's still alive.
