Road-Trip-Through-The-Bible-Belt Goat-Stock 2011

Road-Trip-Through-The-Bible-Belt Goat-Stock 2011

Theme song:

I like big goats and I cannot lie
...you crazy ladies can't deny...
That when a doe's top line
rises past your bee-hind
and her udder's so thick and fine
you get sprung!
Having too much fun...
--
Cuz you notice that doe was done
Deep in the chest, like a faring
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh, I need you in my barn as a fixture
I'll take your picture
And share with all my friends
You're so wide, and tall, and deep
You're the doe I'm gotta keep
Ooh, rump of smooth hair
Your color's got flair
Nubie, Mancha, Alpie, Saanie...you ain't the average Nannie...

I've seen them wheelin'
To hell with hagglin' and dealin'
She's sweet, and set, got it goin like a turbo vette

I'm tired of forum, e-zines
Saying Mini goats are the thing
Take the average Goatie Gal and ask her that, she'll say...
Doe's gotta pack much back

So Ladies (yeah) Ladies (yeah)
Are your goats stacked to the rack? (hell yeah)
Well, dance it, prance it, and be thankful for the fact
Your does have got back...

(U.K. head with a Texas udder...)

I like'em round and big
And when I'm throwin a dig
I just can't help myself
I'm actin like an animal
Now here's my scandal

I wanna get her home
And send to my buck alone...
I aint talkin bout souses
Just that miniature things are made for doll houses...
I wannem real big and think
So find that breed that clicks
Crazy Goat Gals are in trouble
Buy a kid out of Miss Bubbles
So I'm lookin' at websites
Knockin these goats with legs like sprites
You can have them goats
I'll keep my does like Flo Jo
A word to the big goat breeders
I wanna pay and feed ya
I won't slam or demean ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I wanna BUY
All your does and bucks
Your lines got me awe-struck
Alot of breeders won't like this song
Cuz them jerks breed to sell it, repel it
But I'd rather be responsible
Cuz I'm smart and conscionable
And I'm down to get the milkin' on

So doelings (yeah), doelings (yeah)
Do you wanna race my buck a furlong? (yeah)
Then turn around
Stick it out
Even N.D.'s got to shout
Baby got back

(U.K. head with a Texas Udder)

Yeah Goat Gals
When it comes to does
Fashion ain't got nothin to do with my selection
26 inch maximum height?
Only if she's laying down....

So your goats are tiny and little
And fit as a fiddle
But a fiddle don't milk a bit, not even a dribble
My milkin' hands don't want none unless you've got teats hun
You can breed for short muzzles and ears
But please don't lose that size-up
Some breeders wanna play that hard role
And tell you that standards ain't gold
So they toss 'em and leave 'em
And I call up quick to retrieve 'em
So the forums says their fat
Well I ain't down with that
Cuz they're "well conditioned", and there ain't no guiltin'
And I'm thinkin bout milkin'
To the tiny does takin' off with shows
You aint it, Miss Goat
Give me a standard, I can't resist her
Alfalfa and grain didn't miss her
Some insane woman tried to dis
Cuz her goats were on my list
she had game but she chose to dry 'em
And I called up fast to buy 'em
So does if the rumen is round
And you wanna be pampered from your horn buds on down
Dial 1-800-CRAZYGOATGALS and prepare to be grained by the pound
Your does have got back...
My does have got back.....
Little in the hooves but she got much back...

This trip will be accomplished by Pony, wintrrwolf, andiplus8 (Oklahoma Andi) and myself. The purpose is to spread goatie goodness to the poor, goat-less masses....

No, wait....we are SO not the Goat Ghandi...sorry...

The purpose is to give in to our addiction, acquire far more goats than we need, bring our own goats around to people who are giving into their addictions, have some tea, visit with other Crazy Goat Gals, and have some fun!

thaiblue12 12/01/10 11:52 PM

You know I am in, I swear I am going to regret it lol once I have too many goats. So I better make sure I sell enough :) Ooooh Otter, lol!

I so want a Yarrow solid colored eared Nubian. But then again I also want some of Emily's and on and on, I swear MO is the Goat Enabling Capital!

And you are ya calling crazy, crazy? :p lol

CaliannG 12/02/10 12:12 AM

~grinz~ The woman whose psychiatrist STILL hasn't found a medication that will get her to sleep is calling you crazy.....which says something about both of us, huh?

I think my DH is in love with Susie's Jenna.....

And I am also wondering about moving to Missouri....

Oh, Caliann, I'm absolutely crying laughing! That song is EPIC!

CaliannG 12/02/10 10:52 AM

wintrr, I live in an area a little over 20 miles from town. ("Town" is a population center a little over 100,000.) Most of the population within a 5 mile radius of my place consists of cows and horses.

Now, down the paved road in front of my place, land is divided up into 10 acre sections for little hobby farms and ranches. And down the road to the side of me, the land is divided into 2 and 5 acre sections. Most of the people who have bought these plots are raising horses. A couple are raising specialty cattle.

At any rate, I can think of no fewer than three 10 acre plots, two, two-acre plots (one with a new double-wide mobile home on it) and three 5 acre plots for sale within one mile of me.

Not only that, but this real estate has been on the market FOREVER.

The area within a mile of me, 10 acres are going for $16-24,000. 5 acres are going for $12-18,000. 2 acres are going for $10,000. If the plot has a house or trailer on it, double the price, unless it is a brand, new house or trailer, then just add the purchase price instead.

Now, there are more areas with land, both closer and further away from town. Plots of land get cheaper the further from town you get (go figure) and the ones that are about 8 miles closer are going for double the prices I have listed.

This is smack middle of growing Zone 8. We have five growing seasons here...yes, INCLUDING winter. We grow cool-weather crops, such as spinach and cabbage, throughout the winter.

Not that I am trying to encourage you, or your goats, to move down here. :whistles and looks innocent:

wintrrwolf 12/02/10 11:37 AM

oh wow tempting. I once worked in Houston, Tx on a contract job, and I have a cousin that lives about 30 miles out of Dallas. Wonder if I can transfer to a Housing Authority down there. Holy Cow you got me thinking about it!! You are soooo bad.

CaliannG 12/02/10 12:08 PM

*waves her hands slowly in front of wintrrwolf* I will have Nubians also...and I have horses, we could go riding together. I'll let you borrow my garden tractors and introduce you to the best AI goat clinics in the country. :)

You wanna move to Texas. You wanna move to Texas.....

saanengirl 12/02/10 10:31 PM

Stop by Middle Georgia and I can give you a tour of the goat research center at Fort Valley State University.

CaliannG 12/02/10 11:26 PM

~laughs~ saanengirl, if Colorado is out-of-the-way, I don't think we'll be able to make Georgia.

Maybe there will be a "Road-Trip-Along-The-Eastern-Seaboard" Goat-Stock 2011.

andiplus8 12/04/10 08:58 AM

I have a friend named Katt who really wants in on this. She lives in AR near Ft Smith. She has been trying to get approved on here so she can post but after 2 or 3 days she is still waiting. So I told her I would come on and ask for her.
Is there room? In the van or the house where we are gonna stay? I told her I wasn't in charge of this one.. (although it sounds just like something I'd come up with!!)
So just let us know by posting here. She can read it she just can't post to it. :(

:rotfl:

Minelson 12/07/10 08:58 PM

Any chance of swinging through South Dakota? There are a lot of bible people here. I wanna go! pick me up! I promise I will rememorize the song :) :) :)

Baer Creek 12/08/10 11:29 AM

Texas IS a lovely place. Lots of friendly people here. And lots of land to have MORE animals. hehehe
is there a reality show called goat hording???

Native87 12/08/10 11:34 AM

I knew OGD (obsessive goat disease) was common amongst most goat herders but CALLIEANN.................... we need to start a treatment fund for you. lol The song was great. :)

thaiblue12 12/08/10 12:11 PM

Minelson you are too far North, come to my house and I will drive you to KS :) You'll be leaving pretty loaded up tho lol.

Caliann says that she gets "enabled" by others ( me included) to get all these goats, we know it is just an excuse, lol ;)

CaliannG 12/08/10 10:13 PM

~laughs~ Nah, the main problem is I am a spoiled rotten little princess whose DH lets her have ANYTHING she wants if she bats her pretty brown eyes at him...and what she wants is goats.

(Just ask Thai...she's seen how much my DH is a push-over for goats.)

Andi, my van seats four unless I put the extra seat in, then it seats seven. But I am wary of putting that extra seat in just in case we have babies that need special attention that we want to keep an eye or four on.

However, that does NOT mean we cannot set up a goat convoy if folks are willing to bring their own vehicles. We'd have to see to accommodations though. Unless someone is willing to bring along a camper trailer.

ok, gotcha! She is still waiting to be approved so she can post on here. Idk what is taking so long. When I joined I got approved within 24 hours.

Oat Bucket Farm 12/08/10 11:50 PM

Back many moons ago when I signed up it took almost a week to get approved.

So were the plans ever firmed up and settled on this? When is it going to happen? What route is the main artery of this adventure taking? Who all is participating?

jill.costello 12/21/10 12:44 PM

"When it comes to does

:hysterical: I am now DESTROYED for the rest of the day! Tears are shooting out of my eyes from laughing so hard; I'd better not drive.... oh, wait, I have to get hay....NUTZ!!!!!!!!! :hysterical:

CaliannG 12/21/10 07:25 PM

OBF, we're still waiting on KsHobbit to let us know when her friends have most of their kids due. Wouldn't do for us to gather everyone up, head to Kansas, only to find out that no one has dropped yet and they aren't due for another month, right? :)

jill, it is my extreme pleasure to make your life more difficult by causing you to not only laugh until you cry, but also making a song get stuck in your head. You shall be cursing my name tomorrow when you wake up singing that.:)

CaliannG 12/25/10 12:10 AM

Okay, Crazy Goat Gals!

Logistics need to go here, we are taking up too many threads. :)

Part of the does are going to be kidding in Jan and Feb. Part of the does will be kidding in April.

Thaiblue and I have kids to pick up from Susie, and they won't be on the ground until March-April...so it makes sense for Thai and I to schedule us being in the area at that time.

Who wants to do what? Wolf, do you and Pony want to head down for the Jan-Feb kidding? Minelson, do you want to meet up with Thai in April...or come down in that lovely trailer oin Jan-Feb and go nutty with ww and Pony?

andiplus8 04/01/11 09:51 AM

Anything ever work out on this? I have been away from the forum for a while. Thought I'd check in and see what the deal is.

Alice In TX/MO 04/01/11 10:04 AM

I have a cabin not far from Susie's house. Perfect for visitors and goats!

Just let me know when you're coming.

I'll be moving to Missouri for the summer just after Easter... end of April, but definitely before May 1.

My goat facility isn't fancy by any means, but you are more than welcome to visit. You can see Coso, Yarrow, and me within about a ten mile radius.

Rechellef 04/01/11 10:17 AM

*checking zip code* yep, right in the middle of the Bible belt here in NE Tennessee. My vet makes fun of me because I am an official "Dam- Yankee". If anyone comes out this way, we always have a guest bedroom available!!

Although Calianna, your post on the price of land make me think of moving to TX for a few seconds.:gaptooth:

thaiblue12 04/01/11 10:51 AM

Andi the goat train got derailed. Caliann could not make it. Pljus she went from Nubians to Alpine and it going to do mini Alpines. You have been gone too long lol.

KS Hobbit's friend did not seem to have a lot of kids in the end, 6e did get a few cuties :) But after that I did not hear anymore about kidding.

I am still heading to MO, or through it depending on if ( no when WHEN I move out of here!) or when visitors day at Fort Lenorad Wood is, and etc. So if you want to buy some Nigies or mini Nubians ;) I will have a few for sale, lol.

CaliannG 04/01/11 12:02 PM

I got hit by the massive "winter weather" we all experienced and had to throw all of my savings into a COMPLETE plumbing installation. ALL of our pipes had to be replaced....and that took weeks, too, because everyone else had to replace their pipes also and there was a severe shortage of plumbing supplies down here for a while.:)

So when it was done, I didn't have much left over that could go for road tripping, or any of Susie's lovely goats. :awh: Heck, by that time, I couldn't even afford any of Vicki's lovely goats, and she is close by.

(I did have a wonderful windfall out of nowhere that allowed me to get a GORGEOUS little doeling, but that is a different story.)

At the end, I don't think even Pony and wintrrwolf got kids, and they are a lot closer.

But we are going to HAVE to do a Goat Stock someday. Just to do it.:)

wintrrwolf 04/01/11 03:31 PM

Naw did not get any .. lost job, lost house, moved before I lost my mind :)
Now even further from Pony and Pygmybabies.

CaliannG 04/01/11 04:02 PM

Ugh! ~hugs~ So sorry to hear all that. I hope things get MUCH better.

We'll do Goat Stock someday...this just wasn't the year for it.
