Heads up opportunity, give him the thiamine pills, and redcell (maybe only 6ccs or so since you gave the iron injectible). you might do it slowly so he has a chance to swallow (because the gurgling).
For the pills, use a pill gun if you don't have a gun, watch those back teeth the're very sharp. I hold my fingers over the nose, with forefinger just behind the bottom teeth inside the mouth. Then slide the pill straight back down the middle of the toungue & push it back. Retreat your fingers VERY quickly.
I don't know what else to offer, except repeat the Pen G in a few more hours, and the antitoxin in the morning, thiamine pills. Keep him warm, secure those lamps very well and very high, you don't need a fire.
Try to get him to drink-warm water, gatorade, anything. Dehydration can kill him, too.

I have zero experience with goats but I am praying for you and your buck. I am learning as well as I will be getting goats in the hopefully near future.

the lamps cannot touch anything sand remain plugged in.
I gave him the more B and he lay back down. I am going to give him the second anti-toxin shot and then I am going to pet him and check back until everybody is out of ideas, or he dies, or he gets up (I don't give up easily - I don't win often, but I don't give up easily.)
I will try to give him liquid if he picks his head up again. otherwise I will give him another 60cc glucose solution sub q in the morning (if we make it that long)

R&W This is not medical advice in any way shape or form but I have seen an animal simply try herder just because someone they trust/love is there with them. Pet him, give him a hug, let him lie on your lap (if possible and he wants to), talk to him. I've seen animals that everyone including me thought would die pull through. Never give up.

Continue with the B-vitamin injectable; I always inject it under the skin, not in the muscle.
Just nurse him the best you can. I would rub his belly firmly: I always wrap my arms around them and do a deep massage toward their rear end in big circles (just praying their digestive system will kick in).
Continue to offer water or watered-down gatoraide or power punch with a syringe (making sure his head is held in a normal, forward, upright position).
Pet him, wipe his mouth; be there for him. You might try propping him up in a more natural, chest-down, legs tucked under position by using hay bales...
Prayers said.

I've been rubbing his tummy and lifting him up. He really seems to want to lay back down. Which I know is not good.
How often should I give the B complex? He really didn't seem to respond to the second dose.

AWWWWW, I have no goats and have no advice to offer, just my prayers that he makes it. Your desperation in your posts brought me to tears. I sure hope he is ok and if not my prayers are with you.

My Doe who had goat polio got her PURE Thiamine every 6 hours, so I wouldn't hesitate to wack him with 12cc of B-complex every 6 hours, either.
The B-1 vitamin facilitates rumen function. Goats are virtually run by their rumens, if the rumen is still functioning, then there is still hope, so we support that rumen with B-1, fluids, hydration, and electrolytes.
I do so wish I was there to help you; I have a bag of IV Lactated Ringers and wish so much I could put him on an IV to hydrate him!
Will he swallow for you at all? Does he have a swallow reflex?
Still praying....

I've been sticking a finger in the side of his mouth and rubbing his tongue and soft palate. when he responds I give him 2cc of water and rub his throat. he swallows. he's getting about 2 teaspoons an hour at this rate, but he did pee a little when I was rubbing his belly about 15 minutes ago.
It's only been a couple of hours since I gave him the second B shot.

Sorry to hear that he is getting worse. Hopeful that he pulls through though.
Sounds like you are doing everything you can for him right now.

I am so sorry! It's so deflating to work so hard, as you did, and still lose your buck. I really am sorry. (((hugs)))

Rootsandwings I am so sorry you lost your buck. It can be heartbreaking.
Know that you did what you could. I lost one of my best bucks this time last year. He hung on for days. We did take him to the vet with no clear diagnosis, noone could say for sure wehter polio, listeriosis, pneumonia, or rabies-symptoms just didn't point directly towards one. It was very hard, both he and I fought to no avail. I'm tearing up just typing this. We took him for a necropsy-it was pneumonia. Needless to say the whole herd now gets a pnuemonia shot.
Take a few moments to compose yourself, have a good cry.
Your next task is to determine why Ivermec & Cydectin did not work for your herd, to protect them from the same fate. Was it incorrect doseage? resisitance? Winter is coming. It is a good time to rest your pasture/acreage of goats & clean the goats out for a nice rest from worms. This way you have a great start come spring.
