Oh, that's so awful. I can only imagine how hard that was on all involved. I'll be praying for everyone! I hope Dryna makes a speedy recovery.

I'm sorry! That is awful. I'm glad that the neighbor was willing to do the right thing and wasn't protective/defensive about her dog.

I wouldn't own a chow for anything.

Yeah. They are usually pretty mean dogs!

We did have a lab/ chow mix that was perfect - he had the lab personality and looked like a chow. It was great because he scared people who didn't know him away but was a wonderful family pet for 15 years. We got him as a puppy, though. That makes a huge difference!

Oh, Otter, how absolutely horrifying! I am so sorry... That just stinks.

Like Wintrrwolf said, I know that your Dryna will do well under your careful nursing.

Also relieved that the chow was shot. When I worked as a vet tech, I absolutely hated to see a chow come in. While I know you should never trust any dog 100%, I abhor chow chows. One bit my DD when she was little - completely unprovoked, the dog walked up to her and bit her in the belly!

Please let your DH know that he is also in my prayers. What happened is just plain awful, and he manned up and did the right thing.

Update
Dryna is eating and drinking and no fever. She barely moved today and had to be helped to lie down, but can stand back up on her own. Tonight at bedtime she walked a few steps for the first time.

Thanks all for your well wishes. It means a lot to DH and I.

Glad to hear things are better for you. Good lessons, bad experience. Good neighbor, bad dog. Good vet, good choices, but bad day. Everything adds up, so no need to do the 'what if' dance.

Glad to hear she's doing better. Here's hoping the trauma will pass for the rest of your family too.
