She doesn't look too bad Jill but I do notice the bulges of fat. Amazing how she's kept on &/or gaining weight just on hay & browse.

Like someone in my other thread Fat Doe said, she has a goat that puts on weight just looking at grain.

Great info...my wether has a huge tummy and I always thought he was overweight.
What are the signs of an overweight goat???

I would feel the chest area, usually you'll feel the fat there, around the neck or front shoulder area & also the back hip area. Also like in a dog, I think your supposed to be able to feel the ribs easily without alot of padding.

If you look at my girl above, she has some pouches in front of the back hip area, the chest & also around the neck & please don't ask me to count the ribs but if I dig down in I can feel them just not really well.
