Yes they eat most weeds, but the ones they don't eat go to seed, making more weeds that they don't eat.

Dog poo on tree trunks work to deter goats also, you just have to re-apply often. I must admit this didn't work very well for us, we wound up wrapping the trunks in chicken wire.

Yucko! Gross!!! I clean it up all day every day with my job and my own critters...but I can not imagine smearing it on a tree! GAG!

Collect a gallon of those asian ladybugs. Blend them and spray it on your tree trunks. I don't think goats will touch them then.

The only problem with that is that the spray will also repel beneficial insects.
