Sponsor A Cheese, Save A Dairy!

I'll assume most of us are aware of the assault against Morningland Dairy that began back in August, and has resulted in anti-raw milk pencil pushers (and toadies of corporate dairy concerns) demanding that the dairy destroy all their cheese in stock (SIX MONTHS WORTH OF PRODUCT!) -- despite the fact that all FDA testing done at the dairy proved that there is absolutely NO contamination of their healthy food.

So... I had an idea. Here's what I am going to do, and if you'd like to do the same, I certainly encourage you to join the Un-Cheese Party!

Here's the low down:
If Morningland can't sell the cheese because the Missouri Milk Board and the FDA are against wholesome food, they may well lose their business which has been in operation for THIRTY YEARS. (And through all those years they are able to boast that NO ONE has EVER been made ill by their cheese!)

I'm not going to let that happen if I can help it.

I'm going to "sponsor" a few pounds of that embargoed cheese. I invite anyone else who is interested to join me in our

CYBER-SPACE UN-CHEESE PARTY!

There are 50,000 pounds of cheese slated for destruction. This is not counting the cheese destroyed due to the recall.

Here's how to SPONSOR A CHEESE:

The average price per pound is $5.

You can paypal a donation to

morningland@centurytel.net

Or, you can send your sponsorship checks or money orders directly to the dairy. Just let them know what the money is for, and a note of encouragement would certainly be appreciated.
Morningland Dairy
6248 County Road 2980
Mountain View, MO
65548

Now, folks, this is a PARTY, so INVITE YOUR FRIENDS, your neighbors, your mere acquaintances to join us!

Plaster the message on other boards you frequent, put it on your Facebook Status, make a YouTube video and hey! maybe it'll go viral!

We have to stand together as raw milk consumers and producers, or we WILL see the day where we can't even grow food for our own consumption!

(see the thread, "Another threat against raw milk" for sample letters to write to your politicians to make an even bigger impact.)

Let's get Morningland back on its feet -
SAVE THE CHEESE!!!

deafgoatlady 09/25/10 02:47 PM

AMEN!! I will tell everyone!!

Kazahleenah 09/25/10 03:06 PM

posted on my facebook... will re-post every day

Oat Bucket Farm 09/25/10 03:32 PM

I'm game for a party! I posted in my FB status and cross posted two other forums. I myself will be sponsoring some cheese.

Minelson 09/25/10 04:02 PM

Count me in! And I will try to get others to come to come to the party too!!!!!!! :) :)

nehimama 09/25/10 06:38 PM

It's a grand idea, Pony! My check goes in the mail on Monday.

thaiblue12 09/25/10 06:49 PM

But I want to..........

EAT THE CHEESE!!!!

The untested no one sick in 30 entire years cheese!

Doesn't Emily have paypal?
I am really bad about mailing things :) My Aunt's birthday is today and since it is mine too you would think I could remember that and mail her a card...oops :teehee:

Let me know about paypal, I am off to call my Aunt and tell her, her card is in the mail ( it is NOW! lol)

Pony 09/25/10 06:55 PM

I'm editing the "Invitation" and sending it out to my e-mailing list.

Backfourty,MI. 09/25/10 07:38 PM

I don't have a FB account but I want to join the party too! I'll mail Emily a check Monday too!

Backfourty,MI. 09/25/10 07:41 PM

Pony, I think you should cross post this over in Countryside Families & Homesteading & what about the dairy forum too?

Pony 09/25/10 07:47 PM

I want to eat that cheese, too.

Wouldn't it be cool to go there, stage a protest, and eat the cheese? :)

Okay, okay, I had a couple of courses in REAL community activism, so it pops out once in a while... ;)

Let's just get that cheese paid for before they dump it, and then we can order some cheese we can EAT. Mmmmm.... CHeeeeeeze....

BTW, I phoned Ozark Jewels and asked her to check in on this thread, and give us her paypal account if she has one. (I don't really think she does. The dairy doesn't have a set-up for cc payments, so... But that could be an incorrect assumption.)

Not sure. I'll check with Melissa re: her forum.

Who's the mod on Dairy?

Backfourty,MI. 09/25/10 07:52 PM

I don't know who the mod is in dairy but I just thought of 2 more, what about the cattle forum since they also have dexter cattle they milk & also General Chat?
It sure can't hurt the more forums you put it under the more folks will see it, any & all help will be better.
I bet Melissa will go along with it.

Minelson 09/25/10 07:55 PM

If anyone wants to trust me and Paypal it to me I would be happy to write one large check with the funds and send if off. I know a lot of people use Paypal as a slush fund and it would make it easier. Just pm me :)

Backfourty,MI. 09/25/10 08:01 PM

Another place I just thought of was Dairygoat, I don't go there but you know the one I'm talking about, Vicki's forum. Could you post this over there too?

I shot Melissa a note. I'll send the same note to the other mods when we get back home later tonight.

If any of you feel so moved, though, please go ahead and ask for the cross-post now. I have GOT to get into town to get dog food and some other necessities. (Would have gone earlier, but Nick had to work the off-farm job today.)

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SUCH COOL, SUPPORTIVE PEOPLE!

:thumb: :thumb:You TOTALLY ROCK!!!

mistletoad 09/25/10 08:11 PM

Fantastic idea Pony! I wrote about it on my blog and FB.

Oat Bucket Farm 09/25/10 10:48 PM

I shot Vicky a pm to find out if she is okay with it being cross posted. Stacy, the admin on The Goat Spot already approved it being posted there so I posted it up there earlier.

Emmy D 09/25/10 11:10 PM

I posted the blog and some info on my Facebook!! My heart bleeds for Ozark Jewels and her family! My own darling dog is the Granddaughter of one of Emily's Grt Pyr dogs, and a dear friend has another dog from her, we "heart" Emily!!

I will start writing letters tomorrow!!

Emmy

Creamers 09/25/10 11:14 PM

I blogged it and facebooked it

Pony 09/25/10 11:46 PM

Keep it up! You are all FANTASTIC!

The more we post this, the further the news gets. The further the news gets, the more people will have the opportunity to help Morningland -- and other dairies and fresh food purveyors.

Wondering if Organic Consumer Association would be interested in this...

Emmy D 09/25/10 11:52 PM

Pony, I don't know what folks think of American Farmland Trust here, mostly because I haven't been here that long and have also never seen them mentioned on any of the boards. But I support them each year $$ wise because they support small farmers, farmer's markets and such..."No Farms No Food"...might be a good idea to email them something as I think they have a great amount of lobbying power with the Gooberment!

Emmy

Oat Bucket Farm 09/25/10 11:55 PM

Vicky was okay with it being posted on her forum so I posted it over there.

Pony 09/25/10 11:57 PM

Schweet!

Just got an email from Emily's mom.

HUZZAH!

THERE IS A PAYPAL ACCOUNT FOR MORNINGLAND.

morningland@centurytel.net

Be sure to put that you're just sending money, as there really is no actual product changing hands.

Oat Bucket Farm 09/26/10 12:02 AM

I edited my posts on at The Goat Spot and DGI to reflect the PayPal account.

Thanks for the reminder. I have a No Farms No Food sticker on my Cherokee. I'll look up their info tomorrow.

I am so tired... but so happy that we're standing with Morningland Dairy.

Pony 09/26/10 12:10 AM

If you wrote something specific to me in this thread and I didn't get back to you, please don't be offended.

I'm reading and responding, but my brain is fried. LOL! I mean, it's fried a little more than usual. Forgive me if it seems I've overlooked a suggestion. I'm following through.

And y'all really are the best. :)

Yeah but we can pretend to eat it during our cyber party. It tastes great with cyber wine and margaritas. In fact Pony has had so much of the wine that she's out back dancing on a picnic table with a lamp shade on her head. Minelson is passed out under the tire swing and Creamers is laying in the hay rack with un-cheese in one hand and a glass of wine in the other singing "Mary Had a Little Goat" in a rather slurred and off key voice. Mistletoad reeks to high heaven because through her margarita glasses she thought the buck was the dog and she spent quite a bit of time scratching him on the face and neck and wow, does she stink. Backforty is mixing more drinks in the kitchen but since she had had just as much wine as she's had cheese, we aren't sure exactly what she's mixing together anymore but we'll drink it anyway. Deafgoatlady,Kazahleenah,Nehimama,Thaiblue12 are chowing down on cheese and singing "Stop! In the name of milk, before you ruin the farm, think it o-over."

And so the party continues...:dance::happy:

edited to add that if I called you a she and you are really a he,I'm sorry.

Alice In TX/MO 09/26/10 11:31 AM

I did it! First time ever sending $$ via PayPal.

Long live raw milk processors!
Down with the brown shoes!

Where's my Marguerita?

And, I ate some of my homemade goat cheese in honor of MorningLand Dairy.:)

Minelson 09/26/10 12:32 PM

Oatbucket!!! :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
now that I'm done laughing so hard I will continue my party :buds:

Oat Bucket Farm 09/26/10 01:28 PM

Alice is eating cheese, drinking way too many margaritas and attempting to dig a moat to help keep the FDA agents from getting near any of our un-cheese because they are NOT invited.

Oat Bucket Farm 09/26/10 01:40 PM

Um... how do you use the link to pay by paypal? I have never used paypal and I don't get it.

Minelson 09/26/10 01:47 PM

Just go into your account and click on "send money"....If you take it easy on the margaritas it will be easier ;)

I agree, I always support them also & think they are trying to do good things there.
Great Idea I think too!

Alice In TX/MO 09/26/10 01:52 PM

You have to have a PayPal account yourself. It's linked to either your bank account or a credit card.

Then, in your PayPal account, you click on the send money tab, and you put in the email address of the person to whom you are sending money.

Click appropriate buttons, and POOF! It's done.:lock1:

pygmybabies 09/26/10 02:20 PM

When I shared the articles with my husband he said he wanted to do something to help support them, and or their legal team, thanks for Pony for helping us out with this. Wish there were more we could do. I would love to be a part of something that makes a difference,.
