LOL.. seriously.. I haven't really decided yet WHY I have Hodge or the wildly spotted buckling, out of Tessie & Journey..(he's black with BIG silver spots, no copper... well he'll BE black with sliver spots, once his *moonspots* finish changing over from brownish to silver..they are getting lighter by the day. Both were nice & I just sort of hung on to these guys (keep telling myself I'm just growing them out to *look* them over LOL
... PLUS I bought semen from three different Kastdemur bucks (Most Wanted, Free Style & Full Monty)...
Let's just say I won't be going into breeding season *buck poor* LOL I still have Cold & Journey & a black Morrie son out of Sunny, named Shady out in the buck pen.. With so many to choose from, I'm almost overwhelmed just thinking about our upcoming breeding season. So many decisions to make LOL

LOL.. if I HAD to do it alone, I probably could.. BUT.. I'm lucky enough to be close friends with another member of HT (COSO).. HE knows how, he has the tank & was kind enough to pick up the semen I purchased at Nationals for me.. he only lives a few minutes away from me.. will make it super easy to catch the girls in heat... I'm excited. I have an older doe that's a Brown Sugar Double Stuff daughter (Her dam is a Double Stuff grand daughter) I'm for sure wanting to Ai her.. more then likely with Most Wanted. Jenna (older Cream-of-Kansas doe) plans are to Ai her too.. OTHER then those two.. It's still pretty much all a work in progress... Jenna daughter, Ruthie.. she gave me beautiful twin daughters (I kept a solid black doeling) Her kids were sired by Journey.. I'm going to repeat that this next time...
I'm just happy we've decided NO more winter babies.. easier on us, easier on the does, the kids .... BUT especially easier on my bottle baby buyers.. they don't have to worry about keeping new bottle babies warm...(and there always seems to be more milk for bottles, later in spring) With NO babies until April, I still have months until I have to firm up my breeding schedule.

Yes, blue roan Nubians with red trim are not uncommon. I tend to get them when using a red roan buck over black does. I haven't kept one in years though, due to the fact that I don't choose by colour. The does I had kids retained from lately have all given me reds.
That is one of my favorite colours, though you can't tell it by looking at my herd at the moment. Maybe this year I'll get a blue roan from a doe I've retained kids from!

That is fortunate, indeed.
Dang. Seems like most of the MO goat folk are located in the Ozarks.
WINTERWOLF! PYGMYBABIES! We all have to relocate to the Ozarks! (Now how am I going to break this to Nick?)

The gal we just picked up, LuLu, will (crossing fingers) probably kid in October or November. I'm hoping that, if she throws some nice does, I'll be able to sell them as bottle babies. If not, we'll be raising wethers for the table.
The thought of going out in deep Winter to assist kidding is not appealing to me at ALL. It was cold enough this past March... brrr... (Thinking about how cold Winter has been the past couple of years seems to make the heat we're having this Summer a lot more tolerable. )

That is my absolute favorite color of nubian, with normal blue roan being close second. If I ever found one that I really liked otherwise with that color I MIGHT even make the leap into nubians. So far, the one that I've found and I considered buying was NOT an animal that I'd want in my herd, and I don't keep for color either. I've kept one animal mainly based on color and while she's a good doe conformation and kidding wise, she's mean as spit. Dunno why, she was a bottle baby - I have a replacement doeling that I'm keeping. Once that doeling reaches breeding size, the mean doe is gone and the replacement doeling is taking her spot.

Wow! DeeDee does look very similar to Mabel.

You should check out Edith (Trub's sister) on Susie's site. She was the first blue roan I ever saw. Once all four kids were out and I was looking them over, I looked at Mabel and said, "Oh, you look just like your Aunt Edith!" I almost named her Ethel, b/c I had great-aunts named Edith and Ethel.
I am glad that Mabel is still sweet. She is such a gentle little soul... I think she'll make a great mother.

She's a little doll! I Love all those different colors on her & the long ears too!
Nigerians always have alot of color variation also, just like Christmas, you never know what your going to get from one kidding to the next.
