Also, "whole" milk isn't whole. They don't have to leave it whole, just have enough fat in it to meet minimum requirements.

Here's an article about the dangers of store bought processed milk.

Also, my neighbor works in a dairy in southern Missouri. After his stories, I don't think I'll *ever* drink store milk again.

That's another problem with store-milk. You can get milk from DJ's herd here in Cabool, where he raises his milk normally, and milk from a CAFO in NY, and maybe milk from Colorado where they're almost organic. 'Cause they mix all that milk, so who knows what you're drinking?

So on the subject, we just brought home our goat's milk to try for the first time today. (We're visiting her on weekends to learn to milk. She'll be coming to live at our house in early Sept).

I have to say, it took a little courage to lift a glass when you intimately know how it got there. (There's a disconnect so many of us our conditioned to with store-bought milk which is comforting). The goat milk was more 'full flavored' than the store milk - and was certainly much, much richer. I can easily see why going back would be a disappointment. Store bought, compared to fresh goat's milk - must seem like water.

Wonder if the store bought goats milk and cheese is what turns people off from buying the real stuff?

Yes. Especially when Myenberg canned goats milk advertises theirs as having "gourmet flavour".

Agreed, that stuff is the nastiest milk I have ever tasted.

Store bought goat's milk tastes VERY goaty to me. Like how my goat's milk tastes if I accidentally leave it in the frig for two weeks. I don't mind the goaty taste, but before I had my own goat, I had no idea that fresh goat milk didn't have that flavor. DH said he wouldn't drink goat's milk, because all he'd ever had tasted too strong. Well... he willingly gulps it down now.
