Got some colostrum from a certified goat dairy. Unfortunately she is not returning my call to ask about CAE & Cl but she pulled a graveyard last night so this is understandable.
Sent hubby over there after leaving message for the colostrum.

Everybody needs a friend like this in their back pocket. She also gave me some kefir for the doe & herb recipe to help milk come in.

Wow. You've really been through the wringer.

Hope all goes well, and that you get a chance to sleep!

Of course, once you're rested, we kind of do expect pictures...

Still not a drop from the doe.Nor has she drank on her own. Temp is 104 up from 101.6 earleir today.
Kids downed the pint of colostrum over the last several hrs now all I have is the raw milk. The Oberhasli colostrum was no where thick as Boer.
The two bucklings are taking bottle great & the doeling is getting the hang of it.
Going out to feed a little more...it would be a miracle if doe makes it through all this.

ps if anyone wants to post pics I cant get them on here, thanx. PC doesnt seem to like Pbucket.

Nancy-sounds very similar to the doe we had earlier this year and a doe I lost last year. I would start drenching with propylene glycol and french with electrolytes to keep her hydrated. We drenched every 2 to 3 hours during the day and then every 4 during the night.0it was around the clock care, I didn't get the doe through it last year but got the doe through it this year. Good luck!

Hmmm, usually calcium issues(hypcalcemia-milk fever) come with sub-normal temps. But she has a high temp. Are you sure she is not running an infection?? Did she pass the afterbirth completely and timely??

Do you have lactated ringers on hand?? If so, be sure she is getting plenty of fluids sub-q. It is very hard to keep a sick animal hydrated by just drenching.

I read that if the temp is 104 in an adult for 12 hours to start antibiotics. And that the higher temp will kill rumen flora so probiotics are good. Also hypocalcemia and going off feed leads to the ketosis. So they are related because of that.
I had a doe go off food and water from pneumonia, like walking pneumonia, gradually got worse over a few weeks till she didn't eat, drink, was down. I drenched electrolyte water several times a day, she was able to swallow. Of course she was on antibiotics, tetracycline, 9-10 days, fortified B's, a probios, vitamin, instant pudding concoction I made. I didn't have the lactated ringers but now i do. She pulled through but it was a lot of work.

Laverne I BET that was alot of work!

Well folks, Miss B gave up the fight today. I had made the decision to put down soon as dh & friend got back from town.
I was singing to her when she passed, it probably hastened her death.
Our friend owns two of her daughters. He helped Bob dig the grave.

Yesterday I brought her some rasberry vines. She raised her head, took one leaf but didnt eat it.
Got to play with milking some of the Boers so I can feed her two boys Squeek & Bruiser.

RIP Miss Behavin 2004-2010
One of my foundation does. First saw her when she was 7mo old. She was from a large herd but when I walked up to her she let me put my hands on her. Her two sisters viewed me as some sort of wicked potential step mother and stayed back, almost out of camera range.
Miss B & sisters stayed till bred. Till then we traveled the 4 hrs to visit our new lil herd as often as we could. She was always eating.

She always kidded with ease. Except once when I got out there she was still full of a breech buckling. Piece of cake getting him out. But she was laying on a Cabrito Pancake.
Miss B always came up to me to rub her face on mine. She was never loud or obnoxious.
Once I took her to the vet for a lavage. She was a quiet lady the whole time. When the vet & techs left to do paperwork she looked up into my eyes and bellowed as if to say, "You have the power to take me home I need to feed my babies take me home NOW!"
I took her home & let bill come in the mail.
Thank you Miss Behavin, for what you have taught me. I will miss your face in mine.
